POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible for conducting and leading audits, investigations, and corporate-level consulting engagements to provide management with the necessary information to improve and maximize the value of the organization. Provides management with insights and recommendations to better manage risks, strengthen internal controls and deter or recover losses due to fraud and abuse. Accountable for complying with all laws and regulations associated with duties and responsibilities.

Necessary Contacts: In order to effectively fulfill this position the incumbent must be in contact with:

Employees at all levels

External contacts include:

Providers, subscribers, group leaders, external consultants, attorneys, external auditors, governmental agencies, all levels of prosecutorial agencies other Blue Cross plans, and agencies/businesses as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Audit, Accounting or a related field as deemed necessary by department management required

  • Four years of related experience can be used in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.

Work Experience

  • 5 years of experience in a predominantly analytical position related to audit, fraud investigations, accounting, medical procedures or information technology required

  • Technology experience preferred

  • Internal or external audit experience strongly preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Position requires strong human relation skills in addition to analytical ability. Also, strong communication skills both written and oral.

  • Must have the ability to manage time and personnel on a project and everyday basis.

  • Must have working knowledge of business and operations processes.

  • Must have working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and relevant audit software.

  • Must have broad knowledge of information technology concepts, practices, terminology, standards, and working knowledge of information technology general controls.

  • Must have the ability to understand applications and business systems.

  • Must have the ability to understand data concepts

  • Strong experience with analytics and visualization / business intelligence tools (i.e. SQL, Power BI, Tableau, etc.)

  • Self-sufficient and motivated with the ability to work independently.

  • Incumbent must maintain complete confidentiality of information encountered.

Licenses and Certifications

  • CIA, CPA, CFE, CISA, or other business licensures as approved by department management required

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Defines, executes and administers assigned audits/cases and special projects to ensure established objectives are met, facts are properly presented and adequate conclusions are reached while demonstrating sound judgment/decision making and commitment to tasks.

  • Directs and monitors resources and distributes tasks to ensure efficient and effective use while continuously providing coaching, guidance and direction.

  • Identifiesand analyzes corporate enterprise actualand perceived risks and changes in business operations to ensure that the Company’s exposure is minimized or mitigated.

  • Assists management in implementing and standardizing data analytics strategy and framework.

  • Uses data analytics to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the internal audit function.

  • Gains an understanding of available data resources and ways in which available data can be leveraged in the audit process.

  • Attends formal and informal training sessions and self-study to keep abreast of auditing and accounting standards, information technology concepts, and the evolving utilization, best practices, and trends in the use of data analytics for internal audit.
