This Team Lead role reports directly to the Value Stream Team Leader/Manager. The lead assists Value Stream leadership with daily activities regarding production to ensure that the plant is meeting safety, quality, delivery and cost goals. The Lead communicates daily, weekly and monthly requirements and expectations within the facility. The Lead will be involved in most of the aspects of running the operations of the shift they are assigned. They will provide valuable feedback to Supervisors and Managers regarding performance of the work stream and the progress of employees within the Value Stream.
Lead, facilitate and be an active member and supporter of (HPT) High Performance Teams
Advocate and take active role in Lean and other Continuous Improvement Projects
Assign, monitor, delegate assignments and react to activities throughout the value stream
Must assure that Team Improvement boards, Day by Hour boards, etc. are filled out on an hourly/daily basis
Ensure productivity by fielding questions, ensuring operators are on track and understand work assignments
Serve as liaison between the VS Team Leader and front office regarding work assignments and projects
Must regularly lead Kaizen or other problem-solving events
Be an active participant in the layered audit process
Assure all team members are performing and documenting quality checks.
Capable of delegating work assignments, maintaining work boards, report out on activities within the value stream
Capable and willing to perform jobs within the VS in order to fill in for operators during meetings or to cover absences
Advocate for Continuous Improvement
Serves as a resource and guide team members to achieve VS goals during the shift
Accountable to VS metrics such as; Safety, Quality, LISC, Scrap, and Units per Labor Hour
Responsible for Training including working with team members to develop and maintaining their Skills Matrix
Facilitate weekly team meetings
Promotes the culture of discipline without punishment by coaching and mentoring team members
Continue to keep current in skills through training classes and on the job training
Support and commit to Parker’s Code of Ethics, policies and procedures
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education required:
Minimum High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalent required
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
Demonstrated knowledge of Hose Product assembly, Standard Work, 5S, Lean, and equipment operation and set-up
Basic Machine Operator programming/setup skills preferred
Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
Excellent communication and team building skills
Completion of HPT Orientation and Site Leader Certification
Completion of future training leadership courses
Computer literate
Understand Metrics Related to Business or VS
Be available for OT (with approval) to attend meetings
Transition to different shifts when needed
Training experience preferred
Able to effectively communicate and deal with conflict appropriately in small or large groups
Excellent interpersonal and teambuilding skills
Strong problem-solving skills
Intermediate computer skills and an aptitude to learn programs such as Excel and PowerPoint
Basic understanding of shop math and measuring skills, including the ability to convert fractions and decimals.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Physical Requirements:
Exert 25 pounds of force seldom, and/or
Exert 10 to 25 pounds of force sometimes.
Exert up to 10 to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly.
Stand, walk, push, pull reach overhead and bend to the floor.
