The Verizon Business Group (VBG) is Verizon's B2B division. It generates roughly $30B in revenue and serves customers across four go-to-market units: Global Enterprise, Small and Medium Business, Public Sector, and Wholesale. Senior Directors of Business Strategy are responsible for developing near- and long-term strategies that give Verizon Business Group a sustainable competitive advantage, drive profitable growth, and increase shareholder value.
This position will focus on Small & Medium Business (SMB) Strategy, partnering with our Business Markets go-to-market President to develop product, transformational, tactical, and sales strategies.
What you'll be doing:
Identifying white spaces and growth areas that Business Markets should play in from a product and sales perspective, based on our core competency and assets
An ability to lead cross-functional teams to develop strategies and business cases with an emphasis on ideation, financial modeling, competitive analysis, and execution
Lead research/consulting engagements to develop and articulate perspectives on topics and provide thought leadership
Provide recommendations to senior management and business leaders based on emerging trends, expansion opportunities, competitive threats, the viability of outside business partners, and internal business process improvement
Apply data-based analytical thinking to understand and respond to external marketplace trends
Navigate a complex organizational structure and continuously bring forward an outside-in view that challenges internal thinking and provides objective views of opportunities and risks.
A framework for providing investment recommendations across the product portfolio - prioritization, harvest, and rationalization
A strong command of the build-buy-partner framework
Lead a high-performing, motivated team and drive best-in-class project management and operational support
Cultivate and promote a highly collaborative environment; assist in the career development of others, actively mentoring individuals and teams
What we are looking for:
The position will require in-depth knowledge of VBG's product portfolio and broad knowledge of the SMB customer segment. The successful candidate should be professionally polished, have sound business acumen, a breadth of quantitative and analytical skills, and excellent communication skills. The candidate will have the maturity and confidence to interface with all levels within the company and a humble, self-aware personal style that enables them to lead cross-functional teams to gain consensus around strategic solutions. S/he will have a demonstrable track record of achieving results and deep experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders to get results across multiple groups and disciplines. To succeed in the role, the candidate needs to be highly comfortable working in ambiguous environments, be extremely curious, have high energy, and be fearless about taking initiative. A self-starter, natural leader, creative and innovative thinker, and passionate about excellence.
You'll need to have:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business, Finance, Economics, Computer Engineering/Science, and/or equivalent work experience
10 years of corporate strategy, strategy consulting, equity research, and investment banking at a leading company
Minimum of 6 years of experience working with enterprise or business clients.
Proven success with the SMB market and influencing product vision and strategy
General understanding of the telecommunications industry and its products/services
Extensive management experience and a proven record of meeting deadlines, managing multiple complex projects simultaneously, and working in a fast-paced, dynamic, individual, and team-oriented work environment.
Demonstrated experience applying strategic thinking, leadership, and direction of cross-functional teams to complete strategic financial objectives.
Motivated, self-starter, and highly collaborative, able to produce high-quality results in high-pressure situations in a dynamic environment.
Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, relationship development, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Experience presenting at the most senior level within an organization and interacting successfully with senior leadership.
Ability to travel when needed
Technical acumen to interpret business implications.
Effective use of PCs, including Microsoft Office.

An MBA, CPA, or graduate-level engineering degree
Deep understanding of the telecom/technology industry - wireless (mobility, FWA, IoT), wireline (broadband, fiber), advanced communication, security, artificial intelligence, etc.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
