The Drywall Framer/Hanger fastens drywall panels to the inside of buildings using hand tools, power tools or adhesive. In addition the Framer/Hanger Mechanic is a leader for their Helpers and should train and teach their Helpers on a daily basis while simultaneously learning as much as they can to further promote themselves.

Job Duties:

  • Measures and marks cutting lines on framing, drywall and trim, using tape measure, straightedge or square.
  • Recognize and correct unusual installations.
  • Layout work for projects.
  • Install metal framing.
  • Secure metal framing to walls and furring channels to ceiling.
  • Measure and mark cutting lines on drywall.
  • Fit, align, and hang doors and install hardware such as locks and kick plates.
  • Attach drywall to metal studs using a screw gun. Installing insulation in wall as sheet rock is installed.
  • Install horizontal and vertical metal studs.
  • Learn and abide by OSHA and BLHI safety rules and regulations.
  • Forecast the workload and needs of the helper and yourself so that they do not experience down time.
  • Have the ability to read prints.
