U.S. Pacific Fleet, Commander in Chief ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN (ECS) in Bangor, Washington

Summary You will serve as an Electronics Technician - Exterior Communications Systems (ECS) in the Technical Support and Test Division, Weapons Repair Department of Trident Refit Facility (TRF), Bangor. The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. Responsibilities You will provide Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA) for waterfront and deck-plate engineering, technical, logistics, management and coordination assistance and services for Common Submarine Radio Room for External Communications Systems. You will conduct system and equipment operational and maintenance assessments to include scheduled shipboard assessments (e.g., Combat Systems Arrival Testing (CSAT), Bay trials, etc.) and continuous operational and maintenance data assessments. You will provide alteration installation team (AIT) support including dockside, at-sea, pre/post modernization/installation testing and shipboard technical and logistics support during system/equipment modernization installations. You will provide engineering technical assistance in troubleshooting and fault isolation, pre/post availability inspections and grooms, work packages and technical work document review. You will create and develop plans and procedures for isolation and resolution of difficult and complex shipboard system problems that are implemented during refit periods and at sea. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications For GS-12: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: evaluating technical electronics services in support of external shipboard communication systems to develop, test and evaluate, and certify modified or improved systems, subsystems, or equipment during ship repair or overhaul activities. For GS-11: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing technical electronics services in support of the testing and inspection of shipboard external communication systems to diagnose and resolve problems during ship repair or overhaul activities.
