If you are driven by the challenge of designing highly scalable distributed systems, Azure Data, Intelligence and Fundamentals IDC team is looking for a passionate software engineer to join our Watson services team. The team is looking to hire a talented and highly motivated Software Engineer for designing and implementing the next-generation real time reliability platform for Azure services and Azure customers. Our team tells Microsoft about software reliability problems and help developers with the tools for debugging these issues. We collect and analyse crashes, hangs, update failures, and hundreds of other error reporting events to produce informative failure-based analysis for developers to act on. This person will need to be strong technically, with in-depth knowledge and experience in developing distributed cloud services.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross team stakeholders to capture user requirements, incorporate insights into future developments.

• Deliver high quality system design that meets service reliability, performance, scalability requirements.

• Write well designed code with an emphasis on quality, maintainability, scalability, and performance.

• Use debugging tools and methodologies proactively and reactively to ensure product robustness.

• Maintain operational integrity of live services on a rotational, on-call basis. Act as a DRI for system monitoring and issue resolution.

Qualifications

Required qualifications :

• Computer Science BS/MS degree OR related technical field

• Proficient in programming in languages such as, but not limited to, C# or Java with re-usable design patterns, e.g. Object-Oriented principles.

• 5+ years of software development experience in building low latency high throughput services.

• Experience in programming, design, and problem-solving skills, with a strong bias for quality and engineering excellence.

• Experience developing cross-platform software.

Preferred qualifications :

• Strong troubleshooting skills with a track record of working on service-oriented products.

• Awareness of agile software development methods and best practices, including delivering software features in phases.

• Demonstrated knowledge of modern software development and big data technologies.
