Johns Hopkins University Research Data Analyst in Baltimore, Maryland

The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a full time Research Data Analyst ( NICU PMCOE) in the Neonatology division who is self-motivated and actively seeking to further develop skills, expertise and knowledge in the PMCOE environment. The successful candidate will organize, clean and conduct rigorous analysis of data for the benefit of maternal, fetal neonatal and child health and studies linked to the Neonatal Precision Medicine Centers of Excellence (PMCOE). Analysis typically will be handled by automated scripts (created by the data analyst) due to the scale and complexity of the tasks. The Research Data Analyst will also prepare reports from preliminary analysis for grants, publications, and presentations under the supervision of the PMCOE PIs and in collaboration with other study team members.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Use the formal process for data requests through the PMAP system such as refining cohorts and perform basic analysis based on some direction.

  • Receive eformR data repository data projection.

  • Assist with preparation of procedures manual to maintain high quality data.

  • Filter and clean data, review/analyze computer reports, printouts and indicators to locate and correct code problems.

  • Design strategies, analyses, and data code books.

  • Oversee & perform constructions of datasets, variables & data cleaning.

  • Produce tables and graphs in publication-quality form, present results to senior investigators.

  • Serve as a quality control checkpoint contact for data collected and analyses (conducted by self or others)

  • Provide preliminary and interim analyses of data; perform statistical calculations under the guidance of senior investigators.

  • Assist with preparation of reports, scientific abstracts and method section of manuscripts related to projects.

  • Perform analyses on large, complex datasets and document analyses using python or R.

  • Prepare data & analyze reports regarding the status of the database & analytical activities; review reports to verify and validate data.

  • Present & disseminate information & data analyses to project senior leadership.

  • Assist with/contribute to preparation of statistical sections of study reports.

  • Provide research design guidance to study investigators and consultants; assist in the development of questionnaires by making recommendations for data collection procedures and databases structures.

  • Attend and actively participate in weekly scientific meetings.

  • Train, assist and guide students and research staff on data analysis, analysis techniques, use of the analysis system and large, complex database.

  • Provide computing & analysis support to faculty, project staff and graduate students.

  • Serve as a liaison between the principal Investigators and data coordinating center.

  • Write statistical plans for grants and papers for publication under the supervision of the senior investigators.

  • Perform multiple tasks and other functions outside the scope of this position as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned by principal investigators.

Additional Skills, Knowledge, &Abilities

  • Knowledge of navigation of the SAFE desktop environment using tools like cruncher, Leaf and Python.

  • General knowledge of maternal – fetal – neonatal health and medical terminology.

  • Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely and work collaboratively with other project staff.

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced project environment.

  • Basic SQL skills.

  • Knowledge of R, STATA, python.

  • MS Access, Excel, Word.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.

  • Three years related experience.

  • Additional education may substitute for required experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in statistical analysis, database management & data analysis including longitudinal analysis.

Role/Level/Range: ACRP/04/MC

Starting Salary Range: $47,500 - $83,300 Annually ($60,720 targeted; Commensurate with experience)

Schedule: Mon - Fri 8:30 - 5:00
