Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant

Job Description

As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will engage with patients to gather comprehensive medical histories, record vital signs, explain visit expectations, and collect and prepare lab specimens and swab tests. You will be responsible for maintaining sanitation by disposing of contaminated supplies, sterilizing instruments, and setting up patient rooms. Additionally, you will ensure the facility is welcoming by cleaning and organizing waiting and exam rooms. Administrative duties include handling prescription refills, prior authorizations, and insurance verifications.

Responsibilities

  • Gather comprehensive medical histories and record vital signs.

  • Explain visit expectations to patients.

  • Collect and prepare lab specimens and swab tests.

  • Dispose of contaminated supplies and sterilize instruments.

  • Set up patient rooms and ensure they are clean and organized.

  • Handle prescription refills, prior authorizations, and insurance verifications.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in EPIC or similar computerized billing systems.

  • Ability to triage and accurately record vitals.

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Accurate data entry skills.

  • Knowledge of payer requirements for referrals and pre-authorization.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

  • NHA Medical Assistant/CCMA certification or Registered Medical Assistant required.

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program required.

  • Two to three years of related medical office experience.

  • General understanding and application of basic accounting principles.

  • PC proficiency.

  • Medical terminology knowledge preferred.

  • CPR certification is required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
