Main Purpose of Job

Maryland Correctional Enterprises (MCE) is the self-sustaining, vocational training arm of the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS). This position will supervise the Maryland Correctional Enterprises Accounts Receivable (AR) department, to ensure that all deliveredgoods and services are billed and payments collected in a timely manner.

POSITION DUTIES

This position is responsible forsupervising the AR Department to ensure dailybilling and collection functions are performed on atimely basis. Duties may include:

  • Monthly reconciliation of the accounts receivable | subsidiary ledger to the General Ledger, (GL), control account and preparation of the necessary adjusting journal entries. Develop automated reports and reconciliations using the GSS software.
  • Reviewing daily cash posting of payments to customer accounts.
  • Reviewing the billing activity, reviewing all adjustments, write offs and refunds.
  • Reconciling credit card batches to monthly sales report
  • Developing reports to track the credit card activity.
  • Reviewing collection activity and adjusting strategy to meet established targets.
  • Recommending corrective action to management and CCU.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency

certificate.

Experience: Experience: Four years of administrative staff or professional work to include:

One (1) year of experience supervising Accounts Receivable and/or collections staff

AND

Two (2) years of experience processing Accounts Receivable and/or collections accounts

Note:

  1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university including or

supplementing three credit hours in auditing may be substituted for the required supervisory

experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicantswho possess the following preferred qualification(s).Include clear and specific information on your application regardingyour qualifications:

  1. Experience utilizing FMIS (Financial Management Information System).

  2. Experience utilizing ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) programs.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
