Amentum Mechanical Supervisor in Baghdad, Iraq
This position is contingent upon Customer approval, funding, and/or position availability.
The Mechanical Supervisor will be based at one of two Amentum sites in Iraq and serve the Operations and Maintenance Support Services (OMSS) contract in support of the U.S. Department of State. The Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for all of the components of the Embassy mechanical systems, including but not limited to, the building automation system (BAS), chiller plant, air handling units, variable air volume (VAV) system, potable water/waste water treatment plant and distribution system. Responsibilities include supervision of maintenance staff that maintains all mechanical equipment and systems throughout the BEC office, residential and ancillary buildings, and the grounds. DUTIES:
Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals. Provide information and materials to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation.
Directly responsible for all O&M Mechanical Departments
Oversee general and specialized maintenance and repairs, as well as small construction projects; manage a team of maintenance supervisors, leads, technicians, assistants and provide supervision, training, and development for assigned associates.
Inspect work performed by tradesmen to ensure that operations and maintenance specifications and codes meet established industry standards; instruct staff in company work policies and procedures; review work orders and work order reports for accuracy; ensure that the quality of work being performed is completed on-time; inspect equipment to ensure it is maintained correctly.
Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of the facilities and grounds in order to determine the type of work required to meet contract requirements.
Direct and oversee the daily performance of the organization, planning, scheduling, and training processes to meet the requirements of the contract.
Assign tasks and establish and enforce standards of conduct and performance in the work environment.
Inspect and audit in-process and completed work to ensure work meets SOW and quality standards.
Plan, organize, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks under austere conditions to perform job functions in an orderly manner.
Ensure and supervise Amentum compliance with set and planned Functional Quality Control for the departments.
Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
REQUIRED:
Minimum Acceptable Experience Level:
Five (5) years’ Operations & Maintenance (O&M) or service-oriented experience for mechanical based departments (HVAC, Small Appliance, BAS Systems)
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in management and supervision.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to manage staff.
Knowledge of principles and processes involved in supporting contract responsibilities at an overseas facility.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.
Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team.
Ability to be innovative and be an agent for change.
Expert communication skills to facilitate and disseminate information.
Education:
A high school diploma or GED.
Associate’s degree is preferred, though additional experience may be considered in lieu of a college degree.
Passport, Licenses and Certifications:
Valid drivers’ license from Home of Record.
As part of pre-contingency requirements, at the time of applying , candidates must possess a valid passport of home country (or have started the process of obtaining one) with a minimum of 18 months remaining to expiration date with 8 blank pages.
Security Vetting: Already possess a US Government issued security clearance or Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) or be able to obtain a favorable MRPT certification or US Government clearance prior to being hired is required for the position. Must maintain eligibility at the required certification or clearance level for the duration of the contract.
Language Skills: Excellent English proficiency to meet job requirements and adhere/comply with safety, health and security measures.
Citizenship: U.S. citizenship is required.
Medical: Successfully complete and pass the medical and dental examinations as required by Amentum and our customer for deployment to Iraq. Must maintain physical and dental requirements for duration of deployment.

Relevant overseas experience, preferably in the Middle East with knowledge of local culture and customs.
Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective.

WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS:
This position may be located in a war zone, in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to extreme and austere desert-like environment. Temperatures can reach 120- 130 degrees Fahrenheit/50-55 degrees Celsius during the summer months. Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this austere, extreme environment, as well as willing and able to deploy to Iraq for extended periods. Work schedules are a minimum of 6 days per week and 10 hours per day, while some jobs have higher daily and weekly minimums. Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time and being capable of running and ‘duck & cover’ during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
