General Description:The program manager will serve as a vital team member of the Veterans Mental Health Department (VMHD) responsible for leading the Military Veteran Peer Network (MVPN). The MVPN is made up of TVC-Certified Peer Service Coordinators providing services including peer-to-peer support, training on suicide prevention and military cultural competency, coordination of mental health first aid, and warm-handoffs to local resources based on the individual needs of the veteran and family. This includes working in collaboration with federal, state, and local partners to help veterans and their families access available resources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: · Oversee the certification of TVC-Certified Peer Service Coordinators within the Military Veteran Peer Network and provide guidance and technical assistance. · Conduct site assessments to ensure adequate performance and compliance with statute and contractual obligations. · Deliver training on mental health related topics relevant to veterans, service members, and their families. · Coordinate with federal, state, and local stakeholders to align accessible resources for veterans in need. · Working with forensic stakeholders on issues pertinent to justice-involved veterans and reducing recidivism. · Work with other programs within the Veterans Mental Health Department and other TVC departments.

Minimum Education:

Master’s degree or higher in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or other field relevant to mental health. College Transcripts are required and must be provided before an interview can be extended, it is preferred they be attached to the application.

Minimum Experience: Five (5) years’ experience in the mental health field.

Additional Requirements: 

· A valid Texas Driver’s License must be provided within 90 days of hire. · License or ability to obtain a Texas license to practice as a mental health professional, such as LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or Psychologist within one year from the date of hire.   Preferred Experience and Qualification:

· Experience working with those experiencing mental health concerns.

· Experience providing training and/or education.

· Experience working with veterans, service members, and veteran families.

· Experience with forensic/justice-involved populations.

· Experience in building and sustaining partnerships with federal, state, and local stakeholders.

· Experience with finding and collaborating with community organizations that provide supportive resources to veterans.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Knowledge of veteran supportive services at the federal, state, and local levels. * Knowledge of mental health concerns and barriers to accessing supportive resources. * Skill in finding supportive services that may be available to veteran households. * Skill in generating and providing training on the needs and resources for veterans and families. * Ability to research, gather, assemble, and analyze data to devise strategies for improving supportive services for veteran households. * Ability to prepare reports. * Ability to evaluate policies and procedures. * Ability to provide guidance and technical assistance to others about issues related to veteran mental health needs. * Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

*Environmental & Physical Conditions: * Normal office work environment, mostly sedentary in nature. May involve walking; standing; remaining stationary for long periods of time; pulling and pushing; kneeling, stooping, and bending; and safely lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds. Work involves extensive telephone usage and repetitive hand/wrist/finger motions while using the computer.
