WHO ARE WE The Texas Department of Agricultures keyobjectives are to promote production agriculture, consumer protection, economic development and healthy living. WHAT YOULL DO The Intern for the Information Technology division will provide technical support to Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) staff. You will work under close supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with software installations, PC refresh, and Asset Inventory. Support all installation, configurations, and IT administrative duties for all hardware and software projects. Assist in basic troubleshooting, resetting, and setting up laptops, access, and programs. Collaboration with internal teams to ensure smooth IT operations for the facility. Work with IT staff on special projects. Review and draft technical documentation as requested. Assist with training documentation for new software role outs. Follow all TDA policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION Enrollment in a college, university, or graduate program or a recent graduate with a minimum grade point average of 3.0* and major coursework in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or related field. Completion of at least 60 credit hours. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS ABILITIES Knowledge of office procedures; of spelling, punctuation and grammar; and of business or program terminology, methods, and procedures. Skill in the use of a computer and office equipment; and providing customer service excellence to both internal and external customers. Ability to prepare and maintain records, files, and reports; to transfer stock from one location to another; and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and exercise sound judgment and discretion. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS WORKING CONDITIONS Normal office work environment and may have exposure to dust and environmental allergens consistent with normal business activities and human contact. Mostly sedentary in nature but may involve walking; standing; pulling and pushing; kneeling, stooping and bending; performing tasks requiring fine motor skills and coordination; and safely lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds. Must be able work extended periods at a computer and may require working extended hours and some evenings and weekends, as needed. May be required to travel, which will include overnight. May involve travel (up to 5%), occasionally overnight.
