Dell Sr. Advisor, Commodity Management in Austin, Texas

A ground-breaking company making game-changing products needs an exceptional supply chain. Commodity Management within Materials and Procurement develops and implements plans to support forecasted needs for suppliers or commodities. We use our in-depth knowledge of foreign and domestic markets to negotiate supplier agreements and contracts with optimum pricing and terms. We also harness our understanding of commodity qualities, transportation options, risk management and supply chain evaluation models to develop optimal commodity management strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to continually improve Dell products cost model to better reflect actual manufacturing process and embrace new technologies adopted in the manufacturing line.• Employ data driven approach to improve cost estimation accuracy and negotiation efficiency, and drive better communications with Dell suppliers.• Identify and execute cost reduction opportunities in product design and manufacturing process, ensuring cost targets are met• Work with key stakeholders and suppliers to develop process improvement initiatives to maximize asset velocity and reduce Dell's total cost of ownership using mathematical models and simulation tools.• Create fact-based report to senior leadership team in support of Dell global supply chain and procurement decisions, covering concept to design phase and phases in end-to-end product lifecycle• Apply advanced manufacturing concepts, such as DFM (Design for Manufacturing), DFA (Design for Assembly) and DTC (Design to Cost), in cost management and align with internal teams for implementation• Responsible for cost risk assessment and timely communication to management by conducting market intelligence analysis, tracking commodity price trend and managing product cost variations

Requirements

  • Familiar with ME/EE BOM and PCBA manufacturing process; Understand supply chain design concepts and key metrics. Required skills and experience include mathematical modeling, cost and data analysis, project management, advanced use of Excel / Powerpoint / Power BI, and database and statistical tools such as SQL and Risk Solver
