UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN Senior Project Director in Austin, Texas

Lead assigned projects by providing daily oversight and supervision of assigned Project Management Staff for all phases. Manage the key project aspects of scope, budget, schedule, project contract compliance, procurement of design and construction services and resolution of pending issues. Effectively communicate all aspects of the project to immediate and senior leadership through written and verbal executive briefs, ad hoc presentations and recurring reports.Guide and manage the project team (customers; Designer; General Contractor; consultants; Planning, Design, and Construction internal resources and all supporting UT groups) through conflict management and effective written and verbal communication to ensure successful project completion. Facilitate timely decisions by campus representatives and report progress and issues impacting the project goals to stakeholders. Effectively utilize UT database and PM software tools.Advocate with integrity during contract negotiations. Review and approve design and construction contracts, changes, technical service contracts, submittals, bid documents, pay applications, etc. Facilitate approval procedures with the BOR, THECB, UT Austin and UT System and associated state agencies. Work collaboratively with internal procurement and contract management experts in the preparation of necessary documentation for contract award.During construction, direct and/or provide support to Project Team, Construction Administrators, and institution staff in management of construction activities and processes. Assist Project Managers in applying UT Austin project control processes to track progress, achieve consistency, mitigate risks and assure compliance with BOR Rules and Regulations and applicable State and Federal statutes and regulations.Mentor and train your Project Managers, ensuring their compliance with UT rules and ethics and their continued professional growth and promotion potential. Monitor their performance and provide meaningful appraisal reviews and feedback on performance. Develop, monitor, and adjust staffing for each project phase to ensure timely, cost-effective completion. Coordinate workload balancing and internal resource sharing in conjunction with the Director and Associate Directors.Stay current in Codes and Regulations applicable to design and construction, including International Building Codes, NFPA 101, TDLR, OSHA, ADA, ASHRAE 90.1, SWPPP, and any special requirements of the building type, especially medical and research facility codes and regulations and local jurisdictions.Participate in or lead process improvement initiatives as assigned by the Director.Other related functions as assigned. Collaborate with other UT Austin colleagues to initiate and develop process improvements.
