The Digital Commerce Experiences team is now hiring a Principal Software Engineer, to lead the development of future products offering premium, personalized Digital Commerce Experiences. It is a key piece of Dell’s strategy; it generates billions of dollars in annual revenue and here in Austin we play a key role in keeping the platform alive and growing. We are looking for candidates who have already successfully built and deployed large applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive and own the development of highly available and scalable products that provide premium customer experiences

  • Lead conversations with clients, peers and leadership and engineering teams, to plan define, build, deploy and maintain products

  • Be a subject matter expert in one or more related domains

  • Lead by example, owning the products and its outcome from its inception to retirement

  • Mentor team members helping them to grow

  • Promote and enforce best engineering practices throughout the full SDLC

  • Live and breathe innovation by delivering new products, proposing new ideas and making patent proposals

  • Communicate throughout the organization and with global teams.

Essential Requirements

  • 12+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8+ years with a Master’s degree; or 5+ years with a PhD; or equivalent experience

  • 10+ years of related experience with at least 5+ years building large web applications dealing with very high volumes using Microsoft technologies

  • Expert knowledge of object-oriented programming & SOLID principles

  • Excellent communication skills to be able to work efficiently within and outside the organisation, make presentation to the leadership teams and .

  • Sound experience in working with Scrum teams

  • Engineering Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

Desirable Requirements

  • Large experience of the complete software stack and related technologies: C#, .NET Core and/or .NET Framework, HTML/CSS, JavaScript and JavaScript Framework…

  • Deep understanding of the twelve-factor app

  • Practical knowledge of modern source control tools and deployment strategies

  • Cloud experience on Azure, AWS or hybrid clouds

  • Knowledge of modern distributed architecture components: Redis, RabbitMQ, Kafka…

  • Additional frameworks, tools and technologies experiences: Web API, Node.js, NoSQL databases, graph database…

  • Exposure to performance optimisation

  • Awareness of Web Accessibility (WCAG / ARIA)

  • Experience working with global peers in multi-cultural international environment.

  • Some machine learning knowledge

  • Great analytical thinking, relying on data and metrics and paying attention to details

  • Exceptional organizational skills, focusing on key results

  • E-Commerce experiences
