The Role
The Director, Project Controls will be responsible for the governance, cost control, alignment and communication within the custom network strategy and team at a national level for our Custom Network organization. As a key member of the Lumen custom network national leadership team, this role will oversee governance, enterprise project program management (EPPM), progress reporting, and customer acceptance. The successful candidate will have a positive, collaborative attitude to work across internal and external organizations in the establishment and execution of project control efforts.
The Main Responsibilities
Cost Control
Develop and implement strategies to manage project costs effectively.
Monitor project budgets, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Collaborate with finance and procurement teams to optimize spending.
Governance and Progress Control
Establish project milestones, timelines, and critical paths.
Monitor project progress against established targets.
Implement corrective actions when deviations occur to keep projects on track.
Alignment
Ensure alignment between project objectives, stakeholder expectations, and organizational priorities.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain a unified vision.
Facilitate communication and coordination across different project phases.
Communication and Reporting
Develop and maintain effective communication channels for project updates.
Prepare regular progress reports for executive leadership and project stakeholders.
Address any project-related issues promptly and transparently.
Customer Acceptance
Work closely with customers to define acceptance criteria.
Ensure that project deliverables meet or exceed customer expectations.
Facilitate acceptance testing and sign-off.
What We Look For in a Candidate
10+ years of relevant experience with 3+ years of leadership experience
3+ years of experience in project management, project controls or related roles
Familiarity with EPPM tools, project management software and risk management practices
Highly analytical and strategic with a creative and hands-on leadership style
Inspires both collaboration and idea generation across the organization
Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills
Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to articulate information clearly
Ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization
Compensation
The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.
Location Based Pay Ranges
$128,310 - $171,080 in these states: AR ID KY LA ME MS NE SC SD
$135,060 - $180,080 in these states: AL AZ FL GA IA IN KS MO MT ND NM OH OK PA TN UT VT WI WV WY
$141,820 - $189,090 in these states: CO HI MI MN NC NH NV OR RI
$148,570 - $198,090 in these states: AK CA CT DC DE IL MA MD NJ NY TX VA WA
As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
