The Opportunity

As a Manager of a highly motivated Data Management team under a centrally created Data Solutions Support for Auto, you will be responsible for driving next gen data engineering, management, governance and analytics solutions for Ally’s Auto Consumer Asset Organization / Sales / Auto Consumer Credit Operations. You will be responsible for working with cross functional IT and business teams to build a centralized data solution using next gen data warehousing technology. Develop and monitor the data governance artifacts such as metadata, lineage, quality controls etc., for auto data elements.

The Work Itself

  • Responsible for managing and mentoring a team of data management analysts responsible providing support to Auto Consumer Asset Organization/ Sales / Auto Consumer Credit Operations.
  • Partner with the operational leaders and strategy analysts to provide data support and gather requirements to centralize business curated metrics in future state cloud data warehouse.
  • Work with business, IT and Governance leaders to lead and develop data risk management/governance artifacts such as metadata, lineage, quality controls, user access, and issue/change management.
  • Prioritize data stories with enterprise data and analytics IT team and work as a data product owner to manage sprint deliverables and deliver high quality data products.
  • Experience and working knowledge in extracting data from traditional data warehouse, big data ecosystems and cloud data warehouses to produce critical data for business analyst executives and operational leaderships.
  • Possess Data Warehousing principals and concepts to help build reporting data marts in Oracle, Big Data platforms: Hadoop and Cloud data bases e.g Snowflake/Red Shift
  • Advanced working knowledge of SQL, DBT, SAS and Databases with the ability to write complex SQL statements to build data tables and produce reports.
  • Experience with data risk management/governance tools such as Alation, Manta, Collibra Data Quality and Observability etc.,
  • Must possess experience with Agile methodologies and concepts to manage team’s workload and projects effectively.
  • Ability to display complex quantitative data in a simple, intuitive format and to present findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ensure stability, performance and support of production reporting and meet demand for data across Analytic teams.
  • Stays current with industry trends and leads development of key data/analytics innovation platforms.

The Skills You Bring

The Skills You Bring * Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Computer Science, MIS, IT or Engineering * At least 6 years of experience data analysis and data management * At least 4 years of programming experience in ANSI SQL, SAS, working knowledge of Python, and data warehouse platforms along with experience in big data Hadoop platform. * 2 + years of experience in Alation, Manta, Collibra Data Quality, Observability etc.,

Leadership: * Strong leadership abilities and communication * Trains and mentors’ new hires/junior team members * Project planning & tactical execution: Analytical ability to propose strategic and tactical plans * Take ownership and drive vision for the team

Preferred Qualifications * Master’s Degree in the field of Computer Science, MIS, IT or Engineering * At least 8+ years of experience data analysis and data management * At least 6+ years of programming experience in ANSI SQL, SAS and working knowledge of Python * At least 6+ Years of experience in working in data warehouse platforms and big data Hadoop platforms * 3+ years of experience in Data governance/risk management practices and tools/technologies to develop and monitor metadata, lineage and data quality controls * At least 3+ Years of People Management

Base Pay Range:

Emerging: 110000

Experienced: 145000

Expert: 180000

Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan
