SOUTHWEST ELECTRICAL CONTRACTING Journeyman Electrician - Commercial Projects in Austin, Texas
Position Summary
The Journeyman is responsible for performing electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs in a safe and efficient manner.
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintains a safe work site and work environment by adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
Conducts regular safety checks and ensures that all team members are following safety guidelines.
Manages all production tasks for oneself and assigned helpers or apprentices, ensuring timely and quality completion of work.
Oversees wire pulling, conduit installation, and other electrical tasks, ensuring adherence to project specifications.
Works independently with little to no guidance, demonstrating self-management and problem-solving skills.
Effectively manages the workflow and productivity of oneself and the assigned helper/apprentice.
Provides updates on project status and communicates any issues that may impact timelines or quality.
Contacts customers to schedule jobs and oversees work load of crews.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This role has indirect supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required or Trade/Technical/Business School.
3-5 years of experience in electrical installation and maintenance.
Strong knowledge of electrical codes, safety regulations, and processes with governing entities.
Ability to work independently and manage a team effectively.
Proficient in reading blueprints and job specifications.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with team members and management.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to use software basic software systems including Microsoft Suite as well as Bluebeam and Adobe Pro.
Journeyman license recommended, OSHA 10 certified, NFPA Hot Work trained, and first aid certified.
