CenterWell Associate VP, PCO National Training Leader in Austin, Texas

The Associate VP, PCO National Training Leader will lead associate onboarding, learning design, training and knowledge management for Humana’s Primary Care Organization, the largest senior-focused primary care organization in the country. The Primary Care Organization is a scaled business segment inside of Humana, a Fortune 50 leading health and wellness company, yet it remains a dynamic mission-driven organization on a rapid growth trajectory. Our learning organization itself is at a pivotal point and this is a tremendous opportunity for the right leader to help us bring our organization to the next level of maturity in this critical area.

The right candidate for this role brings an in-depth understanding of adult learning theory, effective tools for onboarding and training in hybrid environments and has led learning and training across clinical and non-clinical roles in a care delivery organization. They are skilled in their area of expertise and like to collaborate closely with their customer partners. This leader will lead a team of about 60 associates and oversee training for more than 7000 associates and growing by the day. They will have freedom to help us redesign our learning organization to more effectively meet the needs of our associates and will work closely with a physician leader in a dyad model to support our clinical associates.

In this role you will:

  • Own end-to-end design and delivery of all onboarding, training content for staff across the Primary Care Organization. This includes staff who joins us to fill existing roles, to help us open new clinics and associates who join our organization through mergers & acquisitions.

  • Lead the design and delivery of comprehensive training programs for clinic-based staff to build and maintain a highly effective workforce including staff onboarding, clinical, operational and technical skills, EMR training, compliance training, leadership and culture training, and continuing education.

  • Review the organizational structure and determine changes to organizational responsibilities, staffing, managerial skills, and the quality of work life.

  • Ensure policy/program changes affecting employees do not conflict with the organization's objectives.

  • Develop change management strategies, design, and implement development programs, and drive talent mobility initiatives in partnership with our product and process organizations.

  • Oversee design and delivery of training programs through various methods, including instructor-led training, online modules, simulations, and workshops.

  • Lead the design and maintain governance / process to support in-market training support resources.

  • Own, manage, and monitor training evaluations to assess effectiveness, opportunities for improvement, and gaps in existing programming.

  • Manage the training budget to ensure the optimal utilization of resources.

  • Collaborate with finance and procurement department to oversee procurement of training materials, technologies, and external training providers.

  • Lead and manage a team of training professionals, including trainers, instructional designers, Super Users, and administrative staff to ensure training programs align with specific role needs.

  • Collaborate closely with all of our market leaders to ensure that all associates in all roles are equipped with what they need to be successful in their roles.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 10 or more years’ experience in training in development in a clinical setting

  • 5 or more years direct people leadership experience

  • Strategy and design experience of training organization

  • Up to date on tools and techniques for training in a hybrid environment

  • Experience and in-depth knowledge of instructional design principles and adult learning theory

  • Strong understanding of primary care operations, clinical workflows, and regulatory compliance

  • Proven track record of designing and implementing successful training programs that drive employee development and improve organizational performance

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels

  • Ability to travel 15%-25% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters of Education degree or other Master’s degree

  • Experience operating in a matrixed environment including collaboration with executives

  • Experience supporting associates who join an organization though mergers & acquisitions

Additional Information

  • Remote work at home anywhere across the US will be considered with preference given to candidates in the Eastern and Central time zones. Must be willing to work Eastern time zone hours.

  • Work-At-Home Requirements: To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates must meet the following criteria: At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested; Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership; Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense; Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job; Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information

  • Requires approximately 15-25%% travel as business needs dictate

Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$184,800 - $254,100 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
