RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop Category Strategies for assigned ingredients categories, review and align with key stakeholders and implement. Will require identifying white space for focused areas of cost savings, which may include specification and usage rate changes.
Lead Sourcing events for assigned ingredients categories, at competitive prices consistent with quality, quantity, and delivery specifications.
Contract Management: Implement contracts in partnership with legal and stakeholders to ensure compliance to contract policy
Negotiates, reviews, and approves blanket purchase agreements with suppliers.
Supplier Management: Establishes, develops, and maintains supplier relationships, providing data driven KPI feedback, continuous improvement, and holding QBR’s
Identifies and recommends alternate suppliers and/or substitute sources of supply.
Engage key stakeholders, including plants, R&D, Marketing, and Operations, to gather input to strategy, review supplier performance, and provide metric driven actionable business improvements. Partner with Procurement Shared Services (PSS) and Plant purchasing to optimize work processes.
Monitors market conditions and advises management of changes in supply prices and lead times.
Identifies strategic process and cost improvement projects, which may include Design to Value and other assigned project, defines implementation plan in partnership with cross functional stakeholders, and leads implementation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
10+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, operations, engineering or related field.
3+ years of leadership experience. Highly developed interpersonal and leadership skills.
Strong pattern of initiative and achievement.
Proven problem-solving, decision-making and negotiation skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Functional knowledge and understanding of the following computer/software programs: Financial Systems Software (Oracle) and other Hormel systems (AS 400, EAM, QAD, etc).
Willingness to travel up to 5-10%.
Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States.

Location: Austin or Willmar, MN
A comprehensive relocation package to the Austin or Willmar, MN areas will be offered, if required.
At Hormel Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base hiring pay range for the Senior Category Manager Procurement - Ingredients role is between $96,425 - $135,000 per year, and your actual base pay within that range will depend upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and geographic market location.
