MetLife Financial Director - Large Accounts in Aurora, Illinois

This position is a National Accounts Financial Director (FD) reporting to the Assistant Vice President of service for an assigned customer unit. The position will work closely with the AVP of service to develop and implement strategies to ensure revenue, earnings, customer, and financial goals are met. The position will lead projects and initiatives across the organization in a highly effective and efficient manner. The position will collaborate with all organizations that impact financial services to ensure alignment of goals and responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 10-15 people responsible for overseeing the overall billing, financial analysis, reporting and financial management objectives for approximately 200+ National Account customers (> $ 1.5 Billion in annual revenue).

  • Partners with Account Executive and Client Services Team to ensure team meets and exceeds customer expectations.

  • Provides oversight and conducts trend analysis of FMR and AVP dashboard, ensuring teams are meeting/exceeding overall metrics, accountable for driving efficiencies to remove obstacles.

  • Overall accountability for Board Reporting, Monthly Revenue Projections, Earnings Analysis, Annual/ Semi-Annual Stewardship Financial Reporting and other strategic reporting for customer unit block of business.

  • Responsible for providing monthly director sign-off to actuarial department on PAR/ Retro Rated and Non-PAR/ Non-Retro Rated cases with special reserves for assigned customer unit.

  • Develop & maintain strong relationships with various partners across the Enterprise to understand and implement the necessary support for managing the financials.

  • Interpret key drivers on monthly revenue projection variances, craft monthly executive summary and present results to executive leadership.

  • Oversees the timely delivery of year-end financial reporting and 5500 reporting for the assigned customer unit.

  • Approves unique customer and or broker requests, Broker, Request for Proposal Requests, Performance Guarantees and/or implementation requests.

  • Acts as escalation point of contact for key partners (sales, service, UW, etc.)

  • Leads change initiatives to improve processes and/or deploys new products or systems and develops associate communication strategy.

  • Oversees financial audit review process/procedures for assigned customer unit. Ensures team adheres to documented audit and/or compliance guidelines.

  • Responsible for accurately reviewing and approving implementation credits, performance guarantee payments, group and or policyholder refund requests, write-offs, CALCS submissions and 5500 reporting.

  • Conducts trend analysis and develops action plans for improvement on customer survey feedback related to billing and/or reporting, and team member MyVoice survey satisfaction and verbatims.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or other related fields, or equivalent work experience

  • 6+ years of broad financial/ billing experience

  • Strong experience in people leadership and growing talent

  • Ability to think strategically and have an innovative mindset and a focus on customers

  • General understanding of U.S. economy and employee benefits industry.

  • Comfortable leading the technical and complex tasks relative to financials

  • Ability to streamline functions and a passion to learn and grow

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills

  • Comfort dealing with ambiguity and the ability to work independently

  • Experience working with, and presenting to, senior executives

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; be comfortable interacting with executive-level management

  • Excels at building relationships and fostering teamwork

Preferred:

  • Ability to work autonomously; effectively handle multiple tasks, prioritize deadlines appropriately and remain flexible.

  • Knowledge of the business and the products and or services provided within National Accounts

  • Ability to balance client expectations with MetLife capabilities.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software.

  • Advance knowledge of business functions, processes/procedures, workflow, systems, and transactions.

  • Attention to detail, yet able to effectively summarize and communicate complex issues.

  • Experience presenting and training technical subject matter to groups of various sizes.

  • Able to work effectively with leadership internally and externally.
