Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems is seeking a Principal Operations Support Engineer to be a member of a cross-disciplined specialist team located in Aurora, CO. The operations support engineer is responsible for system problem/anomaly resolution support, data trending, operational product updates, and performance analyses. The team also provides program expertise in engineering subsystems and maintains a baseline of operational products for complex systems.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Development and improvement of operational procedures or processes

• Development and improvement of operational scripts, including unit testing and system testing

• Investigation and diagnosis of unexpected system signatures

• Supporting the coordination and execution of system maintenance tasks and coordination across multiple contractor organizations, including customer and external system partners, to diligently accomplish all tasks

• While this position typically follows standard business hours (Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM), candidates must be prepared to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in response to emergencies or critical operational needs. During such events, employees may be required to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating basis until the situation is resolved. Flexibility and a commitment to supporting 24/7 operations during emergencies are essential.

• Must demonstrate ability to work effectively and collaboratively within diverse, cross-functional teams, including partnerships with contract personnel, ensuring seamless integration and shared ownership of objectives. Must be self-motivated, capable of operating under general direction, and adept at independently determining and developing approaches to complex situations.

Flexible Schedules: For example, some roles offer the ability to work a 9/80 work schedule, which allows an employee to work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday and take every other Friday off of work.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) with 5 years of relevant professional experience within an engineering role

• Five or more years of professional experience and/or education within the aerospace systems

• Candidate must have an ACTIVE clearance; at least ONE of the following active U.S Government security clearances:

• Department of Defense Top Secret level with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with a CI Polygraph

• OR SCI access with an SSBI

• OR Department of Energy Q clearance with an SSBI

• Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Tools such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint to execute responsibilities as needed within the role (presentations, internal/external communications, data collection, etc)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with activation of complex systems and support of operational anomalies

• Ability to develop and maintain operational procedures, products, and training materials

• Previous experience with troubleshooting and performing analysis on operational systems

• Experience with Radio Frequency (RF), Digital, Power, Thermal, Dynamics, Control, and/or Communication systems design and operational use

• Familiarity and practical use with MATLAB, Python, and Perl scripting languages

• Familiarity with Linux

Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
