Job Overview

Performs high quality pediatric Interventional Radiology (IR) procedures. Provides conscientious patient care while adhering to all quality and safety standards. Performs administrative duties including but not limited to scheduling appointments, patient instructions, and maintenance of records. This position is responsible for communicating regularly with patients, families, and all hospital and community caregivers while following department expectations for interactions with patients and families. Required to be on call depending on location.

EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited Radiology program required. CERTIFICATION(S): American Registry of Radiologic Technologists: Registered Radiology Technologist ARRT(R) required. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider required. This position requires a BLS certification from the American Heart Association. Please note BLS (CPR cards) from organizations other than American Heart Association, even if it says it is AHA approved, will not be accepted.

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE Neonate- 30 days to 1 yr Toddlers- > 1 yr to 3 yrs Pre-schoolers- > 3 yrs to 5 yrs School age-> 5yrs to 13 yrs Adolescent- >13 yrs to 18 yrs Adult- >18 yrs to 65 yrs ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform. Operates Fluoroscopic and Ultrasonic equipment to produce high quality images while accurately demonstrating anatomy and pathology. Assists Interventionalist with performing procedures to include; scrubbing cases, maintaining a sterile field, and circulating procedure Facilitates patient fl w daily; to include management of STAT/urgent and high priority patients. Provides age-appropriate care and appropriately prepares patients for procedures. Provides clear and detailed information regarding the procedure and care to patients, families, coworkers, and others. Operates all imaging equipment; to include ancillary equipment following safety procedures and protocols. Demonstrates and utilizes principles of ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) and ensures proper radiation safety practices. Competent in dose reduction techniques and the Image Gently Campaign.
