Job Description:

MaineGeneral’s Medical Assistant Training Program is accepting applications for classes beginning in JUNE 2024.

Program Highlights

  • In-Depth Classroom Training: Benefit from approximately 100 hours of comprehensive classroom training, ensuring a strong theoretical foundation for your role as a Medical Assistant Trainee.

  • Hands-On Clinical Experience: Gain valuable practical skills through 250+ hours of hands-on clinical experience in a real medical practice setting, preparing you for the dynamic challenges of healthcare.

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Exam: Upon successful completion of the program, you'll have the opportunity to take the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam administered by the National HealthCare Association (NHA), validating your expertise.

  • Paid Training: Receive compensation for your commitment, with 40 hours a week paid for a balanced schedule consisting of 2 classroom days and 3 clinical days each week.

  • Tuition Coverage: MaineGeneral generously covers the full tuition cost, eliminating any enrollment fees and making this educational opportunity accessible to aspiring Medical Assistants.

    Candidate Responsibilities as a Medical Assistant Trainee:

  • Patient Assistance: Provide support and assistance to patients, responding to general inquiries and ensuring their needs are met.

  • Environment Maintenance: Collaborate in maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly practice environment, creating a positive atmosphere for both staff and patients.

  • Equipment and Supplies: Assist in the maintenance of medical equipment and supplies, ensuring they are readily available and in optimal condition for use.

  • Administrative Duties: Undertake a variety of administrative tasks, including patient chart preparation and efficient phone management, contributing to the smooth operation of the medical practice.

  • Student Engagement: Attend all classes and actively engage in the learning process. Your commitment as a dedicated and engaged student is crucial for personal growth and successful program completion.

    Requirements for Consideration:

  • Resume: Ensure you submit your resume for consideration, it is required.

  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalency is required.

  • Commitment to Attend: Demonstrate a commitment to attend all classes and complete program requirements.

  • Work Commitment: Pledge to work as a MaineGeneral Medical Assistant for at least 1 year post-program completion.

  • CASAS Exam: Successfully pass the CASAS exam with a 10th-grade reading level.
