Job Description:

The Role:

Inpatient Physical Rehab Registered Nurse (RN) - 36 hours per week on the day shift, 6:15am- 6:45pm

The Opportunity:

Collaboration and communication between multidisciplinary team members is MaineGeneral’s key to a successful rehab program. We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our high-acuity 12 bed Inpatient Physical Rehab Unit at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta.

Our goal is to assist our patients in attaining and maintaining maximum function, leading to 75% of patients going home upon discharge. The rehabilitation staff nurse assists patients in adapting to an altered lifestyle while providing a therapeutic environment for patients and their family’s development. The rehabilitation staff nurse designs and implements treatment strategies that are based on scientific nursing theory related to self-care and that promote physical, psychosocial, and spiritual health.

$10,000 sign-on bonus potential for experienced RNs, who accept 30+ hour positions. (New MGH hires only. Rehires within 1 year are not eligible. Bonus is paid out in 3 increments.)

The Work:

Our team specializes in assisting patients in their recovery from stroke, spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, traumatic brain injuries, joint replacements, multiple trauma, and cardiac/pulmonary disorders. Many of our patients are medically complex, requiring cardiac telemetry, IV medications, advanced wound care, blood transfusions, tracheostomy care, artificial nutrition, etc.

  • Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.

  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

  • Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.
