The Medication Assistance Coordinator serves as the hub for prior authorizations, patient assistance programs, co-pay assistance program, foundation programs, and additional programs allowing patients to access medications associated with key service lines within the medical center as well as health system clinics. This position is responsible for providing front line, direct contact with patients, families, providers, nurses, social workers and pharmacies. The Medication Assistance Coordinator performs all the essential functions of the Pharmacy Technician.
Position Requirements
Vocational or technical training or degree with Pharmacy Technician certification from an accredited program. 2 years or more of experience in pharmacy as a technician. CPhT (Certified Pharmacy Technician) acquired from PTCB or NHA. GA or SC Pharmacy Technician License, depending on job location. Skills needed: Strong communication. Organization. Prioritization. Time management. Integrity. Microsoft office. Medical terminology.
Preferred Requirements
Bachelor's degree and 3 years or more of experience in medication assistance or similar role in a physician's office, medical center or pharmacy. Experience with prior authorizations, patient assistance programs, co-pay assistance programs & foundation programs. Experience with insurance, claim adjudication, & claim appeals. Experience with Pioneer & Cerner.
