Position Description

To perform the duties of a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist or Anesthesiologist Assistant. _Provides support to the patient as a direct anesthesia care provider under supervision of an anesthesiologist. This position will work in the main OR's by providing anesthesia service for AUMC patients in the OR suite as a member of the anesthesia care team and also in Out of OR locations such as EP, Endoscopy, IR, MRI, and Angiography Suite, etc. _Review with the responsible attending anesthesiologist the pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient. Such evaluation may indicate the need for additional studies or consultation. The AA/CRNA may perform this evaluation under the supervision of the responsible attending anesthesiologist. _Develop and carry out an anesthetic plan under the direction of the responsible attending anesthesiologist. Such a plan includes selection and implementation of appropriate monitors, drugs, fluids and anesthetic techniques. _Provide continuous vigilant observation of patients under the AA 's/CRNA's care. correcting abnormal patient responses and seeking consultation from the responsible attending anesthesiologist where appropriate. _Complete an accurate and timely anesthetic record for inclusion in the patient's chart. _Ensure patient stability and safe transfer to the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. _Manage emergency situations including initiating and participating in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. _Take appropriate precautions to minimize risks of infection of patients, the AA/CRNA and other health care professionals. _Maintain the appropriate confidentiality of patient information however it was gathered. _Manages the anesthesia environment of care, ensuring a proper QA and safety. __Participation in Department of Anesthesiology quality assessment, educational programs, research programs and committee work as assigned by the Medical Director for Clinical Operations and or the Chair of Anesthesiology.

Position Requirements

Licensed as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Georgia. Graduate of Nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor from an accredited college or university and certification as Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) by the National Board of Certification & Re certification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
