The opportunity:
We are searching for a senior mechanical engineer to join our company as it grows. The senior mechanical engineer\u2019s responsibilities include working on the design and development of high-speed, automated packaging equipment sold throughout North America. You will ensure projects are completed on time and to specifications. This is a great opportunity for someone to build their own process and procedure based on personal experience and best practices.

General Functions, Skills and Responsibilities:
Lead design and development of high speed, automated packaging machinery.
Improve cost and quality of mechanical designs.
Drive development projects by directing and influencing cross functional teams.
Coordinate with project managers, manufacturing, supply chain and electrical engineers to ensure projects are completed to specifications.
Conduct root cause analysis, perform diagnostics, and troubleshoot equipment.
Scope and manage project budgets and schedules.
Establish relationships with customer facing organizations, vendors and suppliers.
Manage subcontractors and their work to meet design requirements within project timelines.
Mentor junior engineers and train in engineering best practices.
Ensuring a safe, positive work environment.
Must be hands on.
Machine Production and Installation Support
Support the Technical Sales Managers on platform production projects
Respond to questions, troubleshoot, provide studies and estimates
Provide cost effective solutions to problems affecting the customer product while maintaining the integrity of the design
What you will need to Succeed:
Bachelor\u2019s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
10-15 yrs in engineering and machine design, preference given to experience working on high-speed, automated machinery.
Experience with linear actuators, servos, gearboxes, sensors and pneumatics.
Comprehensive understanding of DFM, DFA, ASME Y14.5 and GD&T.
Experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
Packaging machinery equipment experience is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Practical experience with CAD software, PLM systems and engineering change management.
Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
Excellent motivational skills and multitasking abilities.
10-15% travel, including international to our sister plant in France.
Technical Skills
CAD skills: Preferred, PTC Creo, Windchill, AutoCAD
PC skills: Preferred i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
