The Role at a Glance

We are excited to bring on a Recovery Specialist to join our Claims Organization supporting Group Protection in our Omaha, Atlanta, Charlotte, or Dover based office.

Background Details

The Financial Services Team will provide you with several weeks of paid training, coaching and development to perform in this fast-paced environment. Training will be led by one of our dedicated trainers in a virtual setting, along with a cohort of peers, and will provide you with foundational knowledge to assist you in excelling in a career with Lincoln Financial Group.

As a Recovery Specialist will be responsible for managing the calculation and recovery of offsets, settlements, and overpayments of disability claims. In this role, you will gather financial and other relevant information from customers, claimants, claims case managers, and vendors to validate benefits paid and calculate potential overpayments and negotiate timely, appropriate repayment arrangements and settlements.

What you'll be doing

  • You will pro-actively identify claims with potential benefits based on other income sources and establish offsets within the system. In addition, you will document, update, and maintain claims accurately in defined tracking system with key dates and outcomes.

  • You will collaborate with identified contact (vendors, claims case managers) via email and telephone to resolve issues and improve customer efficiencies.

  • Analyze and calculate complex financial payments (VDI, variable tax, etc.) from customers, claimants, Disability Case Managers, and vendors. Interpret policy/contract provisions, calculation modes, benefit offset options, and work earnings.

  • You will perform task by applying core knowledge obtained from the role and acquires increasingly more knowledge to apply in the role. You will provide quality service at goal (or higher) and achieve production goals set for each daily task performed.

  • You will support and promotes change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.

  • You will consult with claimants and customers to explain calculations and collection processes. In addition, you will negotiate settlements and repayment plans while keeping within state and federal debt and collection guidelines.

  • You will deliver and fosters a “customer centric” approach by providing value to customers beyond their expectations that demonstrates the priority of the customer’s needs and promise executes on follow-up.

What we’re looking for

Must-have experience (Required) :

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • 0-1+ Years of claims experience with an Associate’s Degree or above OR 2-3 years of claims experience that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position and no degree.

  • Effective strong written, verbal communication skills and mathematical skills.

  • Ability to maneuver through multiple systems/databases/platforms/software.

  • Ability to be adaptable/flexible as business needs change.

  • Ability to problem solve and make independent decisions, while providing compassionate customer service.

  • Research and data entry experience in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Nice-to have Experience (Preferred) :

  • Familiarity with medical terminology.

  • Financial acumen

  • Disability Contractual acumen

Level: N3-1

The pay range for this position is $24.07 - $25.53 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
