McKing is currently recruiting a full time, Policy Analyst/Public Health Analyst (Policy) to work onsite supporting the Policy and Partnerships Team within the Office Policy, Partnerships, and Communication (OPPC), in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity and Obesity Prevention (DNPAO).

Overview: The CDCs DNPAO works to protect the health of Americans during every stage of life, with a focus on promoting health equity among groups experiencing more risk factors for chronic disease. This is done by supporting evidence-based strategies to increase physical activity, good nutrition, and healthy weight. Through partnerships with states and communities, DNPAO provides data, programs, and tools to improve nutrition, increase physical activity and reduce the prevalence of obesity through treatment and prevention.

  • ability to quickly adapt a project to maximize outcomes
  • experience with management information systems (e.g., SharePoint)

Activities:

  • Assists with issues management and preparing responses to inquiries from diverse internal and external audiences, including working with subject matter experts and DNPAO leadership to provide timely responses to a variety of requests.
  • Assists with forecasting, tracking, and reporting key activities using existing systems.
  • Develops talking points, key messages, and information products tailored to different audiences, such as decision makers, partners, and the public.
  • Writes background documents on key partners and initiatives supported by DNPAO.
  • Assists with developing communication products including PowerPoint slides, facts sheets, and infographics
  • Assists with translating scientific information into plain language

Requirements:

  • Masters degree
  • Past experience with CDC preferred, but not required
