Our Global Payroll Operate practice focuses on helping our clients effectively manage their global payroll needs proactively and responsibly in 157+ countries. Your key responsibilities
As a Payroll Services Implementations Senior Manager, you will lead our US Payroll Implementation team and our most complex global payroll implementations for large global clients. You will supervise the design, implementation and smooth transition to new global payroll operate model. You will also drive or support our effort in continuous innovation, building our next generation payroll solutions, and enhance our project delivery tools. Capabilities include medium to large payroll project management, risk control, process design and procedure documentation. Governance of payroll implementation is key, and you will lead the global country teams utilizing our one global methodology throughout our global payroll implementation life cycle to mitigate project risk.
Lead our Americas based implementation team
Collaborate closely with our global implementation leader and regional implementation leaders and teams
Support the Engagement Leader to ensure efficient and effective transition and implementation of services to EY, including interfaces with client local country contacts, shared service centers, tax/finance stakeholders and related EY network.
Execution of the global payroll implementations in a multi-country environment by clearly understanding the global payroll methodologies & requirements from clients.
Prepare the detailed program roadmap, project plan & follow the project guidelines as well as globally defined standards and methodology. Liaison with the client and the various internal teams to ascertain project scope, parameters and timeframes, enabling the client to sign off mutually agreed project timeline, milestones and deliverables.
Centrally manage the program/project Governance, which enable Senior Management / Leadership to understand the status and critical paths of each project, using project management skills to support & execute seamless implementation, anticipating challenges and proposing solutions.
Process business requirements documents. Develop infrastructure impact statements, feasibility studies, project charters, resource assignment RACIs, risk management plans, communications plans, and change management plans.
Work with global project manager to establish standard end-to-end project plan / approach & ensure effective procedures are established for setup of internal and external systems, tools, and processes as part of the client transition process.
Perform risk management to minimize project risks. Report and escalate to management as needed. Manage project communications to include the sharing of team meeting minutes, project status reports, and issue/risk logs.
Effective communication with internal teams, stakeholders, clients on various projects for smooth transition of the projects and quality delivery by conducting appropriate meetings.
Manage multiple projects ranging from simple to complex while working with cross-functional team members throughout the cycle of the projects.
Manage the implementation program and related country projects end-to-end including EY’s standard global tool set and other client related and required technology components from discovery, requirements gathering, global design, testing and deployment before the testing phase of in-country payroll testing and processing.
Act as a first level mentor for team members to guide & support during the training period. Proactively participate & conduct internal trainings.
Support business development and sales activities globally from an implementation perspective.
Skills and attributes for success
End-to-end Payroll knowledge is a must. Thorough understanding of various activities involved in Payroll.
Knowledge of payroll interfaces, implementation methodologies, data flows, technical aspects, accounting.
Understanding of multi-country Payroll implementations in a shared service environment as well as in carve-out situations.
Flexibility and good team working skills. Promotes a work environment that fosters innovation and continuous learning. Team oriented and able to be a productive member of a team.
Strong analytical skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills along with good documentation / presentation skills.
Proven capability to define, document and rollout procedures and processes across multiple departments and/or groups. English language is a must, other languages will round-up the profile.
Ability to work with internal/external customers globally and/or on an increasing virtual/remote basis.
To qualify for the role you must have
Bachelor's degree and relevant post-graduate qualification, preferably with an emphasis in Sciences, Business or Finance.
15+ years - Project Management - knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices. Managing cross-functional, multi-tiered projects
Large HR and Payroll implementation project experience by working with major technology vendors, such as ADP, Oracle, SAP, Workday and other leading technology solutions
Strong numbers acumen, including analytical abilities and knowledge of MS Project, Visio, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PowerBI and AI.
Excellent managerial, organizational and verbal/written communication skills with a proactive approach to problem solving and attention to detail
Project management experience with large HR/Payroll projects
Candidates with active PMP certification strongly preferred
Willingness to travel as needed
For this position, one of the following certificates/degrees is required:
SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP qualification from the Society for Human Resource Management®
Professional in Human Resources, Senior Professional in Human Resources or Global Professional in Human Resources qualification from the HR Certification Institute®
Certified Payroll Professional designation offered by the American Payroll Association
Project Management Professional (PMP)® from the Project Management Institute (PMI) or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
Master's degree in business administration

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $103,500 to $236,600. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $124,200 to $269,000. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
