Humana Manager, Learning Design in Atlanta, Georgia

The Manager, Learning Design uses instructional design, cognitive psychology and adult learning theory to determine the appropriate solution to a knowledge or performance gap. The Manager, Learning Design works within specific guidelines and procedures; applies advanced technical knowledge to solve moderately complex problems; receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines approach, resources, schedules and goals.

The Manager, Learning Design analyzes content, organizes content, designs solutions, and writes storyboards, scripts, performance support, mobile learning and manuals. Analyzes learning needs and partners with subject matter experts to provide input for course content. Writes effective learning objectives and coordinates performance assessments to measure training effectiveness. Ensures course materials are current and relevant to training needs. Tracks and analyzes the training programs effectiveness by examining learner's satisfaction levels, proficiency testing, and job performance improvement. Provides instruction and guidance to Facilitators. Knows how to use social media and collaborative tools to facilitate learning. Plans, organizes, and develops training curriculum, materials, job performance aids and programs to meet specific training needs. Uses consultative skills to commit projects and conduct needs analysis with clients to determine whether learning solutions are necessary or relevant. Decisions are typically related to resources, approach, and tactical operations for projects and initiatives involving own departmental area. Requires cross departmental collaboration, and conducts briefings and area meetings; maintains frequent contact with other managers across the department.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Learning & Development, Business, Education, Human Resources, or Organizational Leadership

  • At least 6 years of progressive experience in learning and development, instructional design, or a related technical function, including hands-on use of learning management systems, content authoring tools, and application of adult learning frameworks

  • Minimum of 2 years of people leadership experience, including oversight of direct reports, cross-functional project teams, and performance development strategies

  • Demonstrated success leading a learning function, or a closely related capability within a consumer-centric organization, with measurable impact on customer or end-user outcomes (e.g., increased satisfaction, reduced support escalations, improved onboarding timelines)

  • Proven ability to recruit, coach, and retain high-performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous learning

  • Advanced proficiency in leveraging business and financial data to drive learning decisions, align programs with strategic priorities, and demonstrate ROI or business impact

  • A clear passion for improving consumer experience, evidenced by leadership of training initiatives that enhanced service quality, engagement, or brand trust

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Learning and Performance, Education, Human Resources, Organizational Design, or a closely related field, with emphasis on strategy, change leadership, or performance improvement.

  • Prior experience designing or leading learning initiatives within healthcare and/or insurance environments, with a strong understanding of regulatory, compliance, and consumer-facing dynamics

  • Active Health Insurance license, or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire, to support alignment with agent training needs and regulatory communications

Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$94,900 - $130,500 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
