How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)

Ensure a safe and compliant departure for each one of Delta’s mainline flights.

As a Load Planner, you are responsible for the production of payload planning and departure documents related to aircraft weight and balance for all Delta mainline departures. Provide instructions for distributing fuel and assisting fuel vendors and maintenance personnel with non-standard fueling procedures, and resolve issues relating to aircraft weight and balance, ensuring compliance with company, federal and/or manufacturer specifications.

Summary of responsibilities (not comprehensive of all tasks):

  • Serve as an informational source for aircraft weight and balance and procedural questions for multiple departments/divisions

  • Practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operations processes and procedures

  • Assist with fueling procedures

  • Adheres to safety and compliance guidelines

  • Answer questions, and ensure compliance on Dangerous goods separation, segregation and limitations for multiple departments/divisions

  • Collaborate effectively in a team environment

  • Exhibits strong problem-solving skills

  • Coordinate with internal resources while working under time constraints to dispatch flights safely, securely, and with an accurate Weight Data Record (WDR)

  • Subject to various shifts and overtime during irregular operations

Internal Movement Eligibility:

  • Must be in good standing in current position (no formal performance development – Written Coaching Letter, Corrective Action Notice, or Final Corrective Action notice - within the past 6 months)

  • Has not transferred in the past six months from current department in current station

  • Must be in current role for at least 1 year

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.

  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.

  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English

  • One year of Aircraft Load Agent (ALA), and/or Load Distribution (LDD) experience required

  • Embraces a diverse set of people, thinking and styles

  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data

  • Must be able to work in an office environment

  • Able to comprehend and apply information contained in technical manuals

  • Ability to work with minimal direction, strong decision-making, problem solving, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work in a time-sensitive environment, be a self-starter, and highly motivated

  • Should have excellent verbal communication skills

  • Must possess basic knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • Be willing to work a fixed and/or rotating schedule including afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • Aeronautical Engineering Degree

  • Air Force Loadmaster experience or manual weight and balance experience for any commercial carrier

  • Supervisory and/or Load Distribution Desk (LDD) experience strongly preferred

  • Prior training in aircraft weight and balance is highly preferred as evidenced by a Pilot’s license, Flight Dispatch license

Starting pay: $21.04 per hour
