As a Lead Digital Designer, your role is essential to driving solutions with designers to craft intuitive and accessible interfaces that balance user needs with stakeholder objectives. You will combine strategic and critical thinking skills, visual design expertise, and a deep understanding of user behavior and user experience best practices to bring digital products to life. Your design decisions will be based on qualitative and quantitative insights, collaborating closely with product teams to deliver value. Additionally, you will foster a human-centered design culture, creating seamless interactions across Delta’s digital ecosystem that reflect the brand message and positioning.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a portfolio of work to deliver innovative and user centric experiences across Delta’s digital platforms in support of overall business goals and objectives.

  • Effectively identify and communicate the strategic approach needed to shape the scope and deliverables of a project.

  • Deliver key project artifacts with a hands-on approach to include high fidelity designs and interactive prototypes, documenting current and future state workflows/IA, and facilitating Design Thinking sessions with output summaries and recommendations.

  • Be the key focal for product teams in your assigned portfolio, influencing design and shaping product decisions that are led by insights, data and research.

  • Work closely with product teams to shape product roadmaps.

  • Coach senior and junior designers on domain knowledge, methods and tools.

  • Lead design sprints and design strategy sessions in collaboration with product teams.

  • Contribute to the enhancement of Delta's omnichannel digital design system.

  • Maintain consistency with brand guidelines across all digital assets.

  • Work with the design leadership team to evolve the Digital Experience group, including the growth of the team's enterprise design position with developing and communicating design best practices.

  • Collaborate with product teams, fellow designers, content strategists, analysts and user researchers to create intuitive user experiences.

  • Work across and lead multiple project streams

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in designing, leading and delivering digital design experiences, with a focus on product design, user workflows, and UX/UI solutions for both websites and mobile applications.

  • A robust portfolio showcasing your proficiency of design principles and end-to-end design process.

  • Proficiency in utilizing design systems using Figma, and prototyping tools.

  • Familiarity with user research and testing methodologies and champion how these principals fit into the product lifecycle to inform key experience decisions.

  • Strong foundation in interaction design, information architecture, visual design and applying an iterative design approach.

  • Expertise in responsive and mobile-first /native application design principles.

  • Basic knowledge of front-end technologies and frameworks.

  • Proficiency in Design Thinking methods and Agile framework.

  • Effective communication, collaboration, and facilitation skills framed with effective storytelling and presentation capabilities

  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.

  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.

  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.

  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • Degree in design, human-computer interaction, Human Factors, or related field.

  • Knowledge of digital accessibility design, service design, Design Thinking methodology, and human-centered design methods.

  • Previous experience in designing for retail, customer and/or employee touchpoints.
