Jacobs Field Inspector in Atlanta, Georgia

We are looking for Field Inspector to join our team here in the Atlanta area. Working under the direction of a senior inspector or resident engineer, provide for the coordination and control of all construction quality assurance activities. Provide daily overall field coordination as owner’s representative for all the contractor’s work.

  • Assist in the field inspection effort by observing and enforcing compliance with the Terms and Conditions (plans and specifications) of a Construction Contract

  • Monitor the progress of work by the contractor.

  • Inform the supervisor or resident engineer daily as to the overall status of the project and any current or potential construction problems, and personally prepare an inspector’s daily report (IDR)

  • Review plans and specifications regularly and ensure the quality support staff is aware and has sufficient notification for testing requirements.

  • Track contractor workforce and equipment used on the project for verification they are adequate to meet the contractor’s planned schedule.

  • Coordinate with the project Safety Coordinator to minimize hazards while working on-site and ensure required permits are obtained and the requirements adhered to.

  • Participate in verifying the progress of work for contractor monthly payment requests

  • High School diploma and certification from a work-ready program or CMCI - Construction Manager in Training Level 1 ®

  • Ability to read and understand Safety Plans, Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Plans, and Project Procedures Manual

  • Limited knowledge of scheduling, spreadsheets, documents, and database software (such as PMWeb, P6, Excel, Word, Access, etc.) is a plus

Ideally you'll also have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field or High School Diploma/G.E.D. and four years of experience working in a construction environment that requires obtaining permits and passing municipal inspections.

  • NICET Certified and OHSA 10-hour Safety Training

  • Minimum of 4 - 6 years of experience in field inspection of construction work
