The Executive Director of the Center for Student Wellbeing leads the assessment, strategic development, and implementation of both innovating and evidence-based approaches to community wellbeing.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Leads oversight of services includes wellbeing coaching, contemplative practice initiatives, alcohol and other drug abuse prevention and intervention, sexual health education, bystander intervention, and peer health initiatives.

  • Provides collaborative student-centered and data-informed leadership; brings continued curiosity about student wellbeing needs, and utilizes all available opportunities to both assess student needs and community effectively with campus constituents.

  • The Executive Director reports to the Associate Vice President for Health, Wellbeing, Access, and Prevention, and is an integral part of the Health and Wellbeing Leadership Team which also includes Counseling and Psychological Services, Office of Respect, and Student Health Services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Executive Director, in collaboration with the Associate Vice President for Health, Wellbeing, Access, and Prevention, develops and implements the strategic vision for the wellbeing of all Emory University students by utilizing proactive and evidence-based wellbeing initiatives, primary prevention programming, and educational practices.

  • Leads and celebrates a high performing and collegial team of public health, health promotion, and prevention professionals that sets and maintains clear expectations and assessed outcomes for impact.

  • Utilizes strategic assessment, planning, implementation, and outcomes evaluation for community prevention and health promotion. Implements wellbeing best practices to affect both behavior change and protective factors to inform educational initiatives and help shape student-impacted policies, environment, and programs.

  • Builds and sustains strategic relationships with campus leaders, experts, and constituents from across campus to progress the vision that supports students holistic wellbeing.

  • Communicates effectively to constituents, regularly providing relevant quantitative and qualitative data about community wellbeing and the work of the Center.

  • Works closely with prevention professionals from the Office of Respect to implement measures for the mitigation and prevention of sexual and relationship harm.

  • Develops and implements peer educator curriculum and other student-oriented educational opportunities. Facilitates effective stewardship of people, finances, and other office resources. Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A master's degree in public health, student affairs, social work, or related field, and five years of full-time progressive experience providing holistic prevention education to diverse populations, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Demonstrated progressive leadership experience. Knowledge of and experience addressing current and emerging wellbeing issues in a university environment.

  • Demonstrated experience of implementation of evidence-based and emerging practices that have achieved measurable improvements in health promoting behaviors, help-seeking, and/or indices of academic or personal success.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
