Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Manager is responsible for supporting the design, development, and implementation of an assigned ERM Program in partnership with the ERM Leadership team. Supports leadership in the planning and execution of ERM initiatives to support the assigned ERM Program and collaborates with leaders across the Risk Management Organization (RMO), business units, and control functions to support ERM Program execution and oversight. Serves as an advisor to the ERM Leadership team and drives critical support activities including but not limited to, preparation and associated materials for meetings with key internal stakeholders (e.g. Business Unit Leadership, Governance & Control Leadership, Business Unit Chief Risk Officer Leadership, Risk Program Owners, Chief Risk Officer, Management Committees, Board of Directors, etc.)

The Enterprise Risk Identification Program is Truist’s process of self-examination by considering its own specific exposures for potential adverse outcomes and communicating and escalating these risks across the organization. The Head of Risk Identification leads a team of risk management professionals and coordinates the identification of risks across the organization. The Enterprise Risk Identification Program also leads the aggregation of risks from business units to the corporate risk inventory. The Enterprise Risk Identification Program and the corporate risk inventory is also a primary input to the scenario design process of the annual capital stress testing exercise, requiring coordination with Corporate Treasury. The Head of Enterprise Risk Identification also coordinates the Recession Contingency Program which monitors for recession potential and coordinates business units in maintaining recession readiness plans.

Effective 10/1/24 candidates must be in office 4 days per week. No full remote, No relocation assistance.

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  1. As a direct report of a member of the ERM leadership team, drives the design, development, implementation, and oversight of one or more assigned ERM Programs (e.g. Issues Management Program, Risk Measurement Program, Policy Management Program), in partnership with applicable ERM Risk Program Owner and the Chief ERM Officer.

  2. Responsible for assigned ERM Programs policy and procedure documentation, training, communication and oversight activities across the enterprise.

  3. Designs and oversees implementation and execution of Quality Assurance related to assigned ERM Programs, including designing the testing strategy, outputs, and reporting for management and/or board level committees to demonstrate program effectiveness.

  4. Provides consultation and direction to Business Unit Risk Managers (BURMs), Business Unit Chief Risk Officers (BUCROs) and Risk Program Owners related to the execution of assigned ERM Programs requirements.

  5. Has decision making authority on assigned ERM Program exceptions and can serve as proxy for the applicable ERM Risk Program Owner.

  6. Leads a cross-functional team, directly and/or indirectly, to execute multiple key strategic initiatives related to assigned ERM Programs.

  7. Serves as the primary owner, creator and presenter of assigned ERM Programs materials for key internal stakeholders (e.g. Business Unit Leadership, BURM Leadership, BUCRO Leadership, Risk Program Owners, Management Committees, Board of Directors) and associated preparation for ERM Leadership team and Chief ERM Officer.

  8. Produces materials and provides updates to external regulators related to assigned ERM Programs.

  9. Communicates regularly and escalates risks associated with execution of ERM Programs to the ERM Leadership team and Chief ERM Officer.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

  2. Ten+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  3. Broad and in-depth knowledge within own professional discipline and other related disciplines. Sound and comprehensive understanding of business and organizational strategies and processes.

  4. Knowledge of the external environment, including Truist's competition, regulatory requirements and trends, and the strategies employed to continually meet the demands of clients and regulators.

  5. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interpret and explain complex information to a range of audiences. Ability to influence others to adopt a new perspective and handle interpersonal issues with tact and diplomacy.

  6. Ability to exercise judgment and sophisticated skills in solving unique and highly complex technical, operational, and organizational challenges in the context of business objectives and priorities.

  7. Ability to lead and manage performance of a team or multiple teams against a set of financial and operational objectives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Advanced degree in Business, Finance or equivalent science/academic field.

  2. Diverse risk management experience across multiple risk types in financial services or related field

  3. Prior experience with risk identification and/or risk aggregation at a large financial institution

  4. Prior experience with capital stress testing or other forms of scenario analysis
