Overview

The Director of Technical Operations & eCommerce Platform has the responsibility to help transform the company’s digital capabilities while unleashing the power of our industry leading platforms and data assets to deliver innovative products and disruptive business models. This role will be responsible for building a team that develops and integrates innovative digital products for our clients.

The platform role is nimble, creative, and empowered to shape the JLL Marketplace digital landscape. The Director of Technical Operations & eCommerce Platform balances customer innovation, with daily delivery and management of the marketplace solution. The role owns people management, performance management, and talent agendas, enabling excellence in operations, upholding a consumer-centric focus and mind-set of surpassing departmental expectations. The role oversees cost effectiveness, productivity, and the provision of digital solutions that nurture continuous improvement.

Responsibilities of the Director of Technical Operations & eCommerce Platform

Leadership/Supervisory Role: Provide leadership and direction as this new group and process is established for the JLL Marketplace. The role establishes and oversees the adoption of the platform department’s vision, goals and objectives at all levels. The Director of Technical Operations & eCommerce Platform leads the development and implementation of JLL’s customer experience and operation plans. This is inclusive of leading analyses, workshops, and the development of recommendations for stakeholders.

The role ensures that marketplace operations are delivering measurable and significant value to the businesses and meet customer loyalty targets. The role evangelizes the importance of customer experience to the overall performance of the business. In this capacity, the role plays a mentorship role to key platform and product personnel by assisting in the execution of their duties upon request, ensuring constant sharpening of their skills and grooming them for the occupation of his position in the future.

Strategy & Operations: The Director of Technical Operations & eCommerce Platform plays the lead role in strategy formulation for the marketplace solution platform. The role oversees and determines key strategic direction and objectives of the JLL Marketplace platform and architecture. The role will drive the necessary changes for the improvement of operating and organizational efficiency needed for a ecommerce marketplace.

The role orchestrates the continuous improvement of customer experience through the formulation or constant improvement of the approaches and strategies applied by the team. The role supports the relevance of the business’s customer loyalty targets to ensure that they are communicated and applied correctly across the business.

Analytics: The Director of Technical Operations & eCommerce Platform is responsible for measuring the effectiveness of all solution platform approaches and initiatives. The role will conduct research and put performance measures in place for the purpose of continually monitoring the performance processes, which leads to the formulation of improved approaches and strategies that facilitate the achievement of customer satisfaction and innovation goals.

This position will report to the Head of Product Development. The role will align the marketplace platform team’s values while inspiring confidence and generating excitement, enthusiasm and commitment towards the business goals. Additional expectations include:

  • Envision and develop a library of frontend and backend integrations to a best in class broker platform that will help enhance the digital platform while building and or continually enhancing best in class customer experiences

  • Be a change agent with technology development using cloud native architecture patterns in a distributed environment

  • Drive culture change in technology to become a truly Agile team which is self-organizing, DevOps and believes in everything automated

  • Collaborate with JLL Digital teams on new / existing product development opportunities

  • Continuously learn about new technologies and help keep the entire group abreast of industry developments and evolving best practices Core Requirements

  • Maintain a climate that attracts, retains and motivates top quality personnel. Recruit, train, appraise, supervise, support, develop, promote and guide qualified personnel.

  • Develop annual and long term budgets for revenues as well as expenses.

  • Establish and monitor progress against key performance indicators.

  • Develop and administer incentive plans which entice individuals as well as teams to perform successfully against the objectives while respecting the budget.

  • Collaborate on an agile product roadmap in conjunction with the Chief Product Officer and the solution management teams.

Key Attributes:

  • Bachelor Degree within Computer Science or Business

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an ecommerce, digital platform, or consulting and professional/technical services.

  • Experience in a fast growth environment and a decentralized environment.

  • Experience at working in a “performance based” environment to foster it within the team.

  • Accuracy – Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.

  • Problem solving – Brings a problem solving mindset to any challenging situation.

  • Technical Aptitude – Ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information.

  • Working Under Pressure – Ability to deliver against set objectives while operating on some occasions in stressful situations.

  • Agility – Ability to deal with shifting priorities and issues inherent to a fast growing publicly traded organization.

  • Communication - Demonstrated skills in both written and oral presentations.

  • Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to supervise and manage multiple projects at the same time.

  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal negotiation skills.

  • Capacity to conceptualize as well as operationalize commercial strategies.

  • Ability to efficiently interact with company senior leaders.

  • Superior organizational awareness.History of full stack development experience using any of the stack JavaScript, Java, Spring Boot, Spring, NoSQL.

  • Exposure to public cloud technology stack in AWS, and Azure.

  • Exposure Docker Containerization.

  • Manage software and system level programs.

  • Manage interdependencies amongst products and people.

  • Must be able to travel up to 15%
