Overview

Emory Healthcare is seeking Director Magnet Programs and Nursing Clinical Excellence to leadactivities related to Emory University Hospital and Emory University Orthopaedics and Spine Hospital Magnet Program. The Director is a champion for professional nursing practice, research, evidence-based practice and outcomes management that improve patient care delivery. The Director will enjoy CNS and data analytics support, and robust relationship with Quality & Safety Team.

Located in downtown Atlanta with more than 6,000 faculty staff and trainees, Emory University Hospital (EUH) is the largest of Emory's Healthcare hospitals and one of the nation's leading hospitals in cardiology and heart surgery, cancer, neurology and solid organ transplant. EUH achieved Magnet® recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in 2014 as a reflection of its nursing professionalism, teamwork, and superiority in patient care, a second Magnet designation in 2018 and third in July 2023.Emory University Orthopaedics and Spine Hospital received its second Magnet designation in 2021.

Description

The Director Magnet Programs and Nursing Clinical Excellence is responsible for entity specific activities related to the Magnet Program, professional nursing practice, research, evidence-based practice and outcomes management that improve patient care delivery. Accountable for collaboration with nursing and other inter-professional leaders and serves under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer with matrix reporting relationship to the VP of Professional Practice Specific accountabilities include

  • Utilizes evidence based in development of nursing practice standard in collaboration with the EHC VP of Professional Practice and Innovation.

  • Oversees the operating entity Magnet Program and coordination of efforts to achieve and maintain Magnet Hospital or Clinic designation.

  • Assures the Magnet framework is hardwired into the organization through coordination, education and consultation with clinical team members and leaders.

  • Fosters innovation and excellence in nursing. Leads education for staff, leadership and Magnet Champions on key initiatives and Magnet principles.

  • Conducts gap analysis for evidence of the Magnet Model components and works closely with leadership to formulate plans to close the gaps in performance.

  • Oversees submission of nurse sensitive indicators to the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) in concert with the EHI Office of Nursing Quality.

  • Educates team members and facilitates an understanding of clinical practice and its impact on nurse sensitive quality data.

  • Fosters an environment of shared governance and shared decision making and ensures shared governance structure is in place at the local level.

  • Responsible for coordination and facilitation of the hospital's or clinic's nursing research and evidence-based program and related projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Nursing RN License to practice in the State of Georgia

  • Masters degree in Nursing or related field required. If Masters in another field, must have a BSN. PhD or DNP strongly preferred.

  • Previous experience in Magnet Program Director, Practice Council leader or document preparation strongly preferred.

  • Must have at least 5 years of relevant experience.

  • Previous experience in research process and evidence-based nursing practice preferred. Previously worked at a Magnet Recognized Hospital or health system preferred.

  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
