Ohio University Assistant Professor of Instruction, Nursing in Athens, Ohio

Job Description:

Ohio University School of Nursing is seeking a non-tenure track faculty candidate for traditional on-campus BSN students. This is a full-time, 9-month position at the Assistant Professor of Instruction rank at the Athens campus. The candidate will be responsible to plan, implement, and be responsible for BSN student instruction. Didactic instruction will be assigned, based on expertise and credentials. Assigned didactic teaching modalities will be face-to-face. In addition, online class delivery may be assigned as needed, based on expertise and credentials. Successful candidates may be expected to provide clinical site, laboratory, and didactic instruction to BSN student learners for all BSN courses.

Additional expectations include (but are not limited to):

Meeting with course faculty to develop course expectations.

Identifying students’ needs in terms of objectives of the relevant course.

Providing instruction to students at the clinical sites, laboratory/simulation settings, and classroom to acquire professional attitudes, knowledge, and skills.

Assisting students in using problem-solving techniques.

Successful candidates will be required to be on campus throughout the academic year (August through May).

Teaching assignments/instructions responsibilities will be based on candidate expertise and/or credentials.

All School of Nursing faculty members are expected to collaboratively and actively engage in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of student instruction and to participate in School of Nursing governance to ensure program standards and outcomes are fully met.

Minimum Qualifications:

A minimum of a Master of Science in Nursing ( MSN ) degree from an accredited school of professional nursing is required.

An active and unencumbered Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) license, or eligibility for obtaining and maintaining an Ohio RN license is required. Must have Ohio RN license prior to start date.

An ability to obtain and maintain an RN license in states other than Ohio where BSN student clinical experiences occur will be required (e.g., West Virginia).

Licensed as an RN in the United States for a minimum of two years is required.

A minimum of two years (24 months full-time equivalent) of work experience as an RN in the United States is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Three plus years of teaching clinical, lab and didactic to RN students is preferred. Prior experience with student clinical coordination is preferred.
