CITY OF ASHLAND - PUBLIC WORKS DEPT Electrical Technician/Streets Operator I in ASHLAND, Wisconsin
JOB REQUIREMENTS: The duties described below are indicative of what the Electrical Technician and Streets Operator I might be asked to perform. Other duties may be assigned. Tasks routinely performed: Electrical Construction and Maintenance Perform maintenance on City Owned traffic signal control systems Monitor City owned traffic signal control systems and troubleshoot issues with support from outside vendor Perform installation, repair and maintenance of City owned lighting fixtures and components Monitor City owned lighting fixtures and components and troubleshoot issues with support from licensed electrician as needed Install various decorative and ornamental items on City owned light poles Perform installation, repair and maintenance of City owned underground electrical facilities Monitor and maintain an inventory of necessary electrical equipment, tools and materials As assigned, respond to emergency after-hours calls involving damage to streetlights, light poles, related accidents or other urgent situations Streets Construction and Maintenance Perform various street maintenance work including cutting, patching, crack-filling and striping. Perform various street construction and reconstruction work including trucking of materials, excavating, rolling subgrade, removing curb and existing pavement, and landscaping. Placement of traffic control, warning devices, and safety equipment in accordance with applicable standards Grading and maintenance of gravel roads and alleys, and roadside ditches. Install and maintain street traffic signs and lighting. Performs necessary snow plowing, hauling and removal with various pieces of equipment. Perform manual snow shoveling in some instances. Equipment Maintenance Performs preventive maintenance on all equipment and tools utilized for this position Assists mechanics with equipment maintenance including body work, tire repair, engine and transmission repair, welding. Tasks occasionally performed to support other divisions of Public Works: Storm Sewer Construction and Maintenance Assists with replacement of castings, manholes and repair and replacement of storm sewer pipes Performs necessary work required to install and maintain drainage culverts including patching, cleaning, steaming, welding placing, etc. Building Construction and Maintenance Assists in the construction, maintenance, repair and cleaning of City buildings as directed. Park Construction and Maintenance Planting, maintaining, and caring for a variety of trees and shrubs, including through use of aerial lift truck Perform general maintenance of city parks and trail system Additional Work Duties and Tasks Performs other duties as necessary and as assigned. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: A High School diploma or equivalent is required for this position Two years\' experience working in an electrical or related field is required Specialized training and/or education an electrical or related field is desirable ***** APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Other: Application Package Requirements: 1.
