How You’ll Make an Impact
The Research Scientist will be responsible for the development and creation of specialty fluids to meet the fast-growing new energy vehicle needs. In alignment with strategic directives, this role will conduct research and studies, design ground-breaking technology products, conduct laboratory-based testing, lead product trials and monitor product quality and effectiveness. Additional responsibilities will include providing technical support to global teams and customers.
Responsibilities Include
Develops unique lubricant and heat transfer fluids for new energy vehicle applications.
Designs and manages testing program to evaluate novel fluid molecules and components.
Conducts fundamental research and build knowledge database to provide technical support to internal and external customers.
Establishes and grow an external network of collaborators in academia, government, and industry.
Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion.
What You’ll Need
Bachelors of Science.degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
Strong technical background in engineering fundamentals including lubrication, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics is required.
10+ years lab experience with 5-7 years’ experience in R&D capacity.
Intellectual curiosity with a passion to explore and innovate both within and outside of your area of expertise
Strong written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
What Will Set You Apart
Master or PhD preferred
Experience in tribology and lubricant product development
Experience with patent strategy, patent invention and filing
Previous experience in presenting at industry conferences
