Senior Data Scientist, IBM Corporation, Armonk, NY and various unanticipated client sites throughout the US (Up to 100% telecommuting permitted): Identify use cases that can be addressed using data science and machine learning and break them down into development steps accomplished in an agile manner by more junior data scientists on the team. Lead the team to perform exploratory data analysis using open-source tools and proprietary solutions. Work closely with clients/project managers on the definition of phases/tasks/outputs highlighting the role of business understanding, data understanding and preparation, modeling, evaluation, and deployment without which analytic projects are most likely to fail. Identify and collect data from many sources in collaboration with the client, making data available for the team to use in data science tasks. Lead the discussion with the client and guide the team in preparing data for use. Work with the team to perform data selection, imputation, feature generation and transformations, merging and reformatting as needed. Work with the team into using the best approach for the use case and training, testing, and validating a wide variety of machine learning algorithms that provide workable solutions to business problems. Promote collaboration with other data science professionals for peer review and validation of their modeling efforts. Guide the deployment, validation, and monitoring of models to guarantee their effective use, unbiased and fair results, and continuous training to support the use case. Embed model monitoring and result explainability into machine learning solutions to enhance the models' trust and transparency. Make data science results consumable by non-data professionals. Develop skills to keep up with changing business, industry, and analytics tools and capabilities. Enhance and maintain technical eminence through mentoring others and giving back to the technical community through development of intellectual capital and property, reusable assets, publications, and technical presentations. Leverage knowledge and experience in various industries to build data science solutions that drive value and create business impact for one or multiple industries. Utilize: Python, R, Statistical modeling, Machine Learning modeling and GitHub. Required: Master’s degree or equivalent (employer will accept a Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of progressive experience in lieu of a Master’s degree) and one (1) year of experience as a Data Scientist or related. One (1) year of experience must include utilizing Python, R, Statistical modeling, Machine Learning modeling and GitHub. $163,238.00 to $214,300.00 per year.
