Oil States Industries Manufacturing Engineer II in Arlington, Texas

Oil States is looking for candidates for the position of Manufacturing Engineer II. This position is on-site full time and located in Arlington, TX 76001.

POSITION SUMMARY:

With limited supervision, provide manufacturing engineering support for new and existing production in terms of manufacturing and testing equipment, equipment controls, handling and mold tooling, HSE, materials and process needs. Products include compression and injected molded rubber components for shock and vibration isolation mounts, laminated elastomer bearings, industrial clutch and brakes, and elastomeric seals. Requires coordination with operations, design engineering, quality and project management. Some interface with tooling and equipment vendors required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop associated manufacturing processes for assigned products and document with manufacturing specifications, shop travelers and manufacturing inspection planning

  • Develop plant and facility layouts to optimize process flow

  • Partner with operations to resolve issues regarding molding, part build-up, test assembly, bonding, spraying and cleaning

  • Perform analyses of equipment, component and process failures.

  • Review status of production tooling and schedule rework or replacement

  • Develop and qualify new tooling and equipment

  • Find and/or develop new tooling related fabrication vendors / machine shops

  • Perform or work with design engineering to perform strength analysis for new and existing equipment and document results

  • Assist in the design and fabrication of a range of test equipment including hydraulics, mechanical, and control systems

  • Support production testing as required

  • Support MRB cause and corrective activities

  • Become proficient in the production HSE requirements as applies to safety of equipment and processes

  • Become proficient with elastomer processing characteristics and properties

  • Take initiative and recommend process and/or material improvements

  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS in Engineering or related field with at least 4 years of experience; or MS degree in Engineering or related field with at least 3 years of experience.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in: (a) manufacturing engineering direct support and (b) Product engineering

  • Demonstrated proficiency using SolidWorks and AutoCAD

  • Familiarity with metallurgy, basic understanding of steel properties (yield/weldability)

  • Familiarity with polymer based materials and associated molding processes

  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Strong technical writing skills.

  • Occasional travel, including international travel

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Use of a computer, including a telephone and other office equipment

  • Prolonged sitting and standing

  • Moderate bending, stooping, walking, climbing stairs

  • Some limited lifting

  • Some climbing, elevated work

  • Must be able to work in high and/or low temperature production environments for extended periods.
