General Responsibilities:
Terracon Consultants, Inc., (Terracon) is a national engineering and environmental consulting firm that provides integrated services to a broad range of clients in industry and government, implementing complex projects from initial concept to delivery and operation.
Terracon is seeking a Staff or Senior Staff level Industrial Hygienist to join our Asheville, North Carolina environmental department. This position would be part of a very skilled team that performs airborne chemical monitoring, noise monitoring, indoor air quality surveys, asbestos and lead based paint surveys, safety audits, and other activities. We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible, and personable individual with an eye for detail, a willingness to learn, and a desire to be part of a growing and high-performing team.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
Conduct pre-demolition building surveys and oversee asbestos abatement activities for various projects.
Support assessment, remediation, and/or compliance activities for other projects in the field and office.
Provide subcontractor oversight.
Prepare technical reports and work plans.
Support senior staff with the management of large and complex tasks to ensure internal and external expectations are met for scope, budget, schedule, and quality.
Assist during proposal development, including preparation of work scopes and budgets.
Travel on short-term assignments.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in industrial hygiene, environmental science, chemistry, or safety related field.
Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in environmental consulting.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and outstanding oral and written communication skills allowing for positive internal, client, and contractor relationships.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
Preferred Certification:
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) strongly preferred.
4-6 years of experience in industrial hygiene or safety related field with progressive levels of responsibility.
40-hour HAZWOPER certificate (with an up-to-date 8-hour annual refresher course certification).
Current AHERA accreditation as an asbestos inspector with preference given to applicants with current NC, TN, or SC license(s).
Knowledge of state (SCDHEC, NCDEQ, GA EPD, TDEC) and Federal regulations (NESHAP, etc.)
Master’s degree preferred.
