Your role as a Design Engineer will allow you to serve staff and leaders and help provide creative solutions to drive CPC's short- and long-term goals. The Design Engineer will be an integral member of the New Product Development (NPD) team in support of the Thermal Management Business Unit. Primary responsibilities include conceptualization, engineering design, analysis and specification of new products, platforms, and technologies. The Design Engineer should embody a logical, creative, and curious approach to product design, paired with a passion for innovation and problem solving. Essential Job Responsibilities Develop products from conceptualization to launch Collaborates and consults with Test, Manufacturing and Quality Engineers in support of NPD Interacts with customers and suppliers as needed to assess new technology needs Leads or assists in efforts to resolve product performance issues Adheres to all safety regulations Demonstrates support of CPC core values Performs other job duties as assigned Required Job Qualifications Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or another related field. 3+ years of design and product development experience Curious, creative, and tenacious problem solver Strong verbal and written communications skills required; must be able to communicate effectively with internal departments, vendors, and customers Ability to work independently, and to manage multiple projects simultaneously CAD proficiency - PTC Creo, Solidworks, etc Knowledge and grasp of rapid prototyping techniques and manufacturing methods Strong mechanical aptitude Demonstrated history of design innovation Energetic and enthusiastic approach toward the definition of new products, complimented by an educated and realistic business outlook Competent in the design and development of plastic components. Preferred Job Qualifications Advanced degree in science, engineering, or related field Familiarity with fluid handling industry and challenges Familiarity with thermal management techniques Basic understanding of Finite Element Analysis and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics Design experience with fluid handling components for industrial applications. Demonstrated history of working directly with customers to translate their needs into innovative new products. Experience in design of mass produced products such as automotive, appliances, toys, etc. Project and task management Design analytics - tolerance stacks, DFM, statistics and DOEs Travel: Up to 5% Physical Demands: The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, alk, and/or stoop.
