The Role
This position is responsible for all National Fiber Construction activities for specified region. All projects are either customer driven (QVPN/Govt builds, IRU Customer builds, Reimbursable Relocations, LCD builds, Access Builds, & Wholesale Customer Builds) or backbone related (backbone relocations, diversity projects, & maintenance).
The primary responsibility for this position is to complete all jobs under budget and within the requested timeframe. “Pre-project approved” responsibilities include all oversight of field efforts with regards to conflict determination, scope of work creation, estimate development, and the securing of funding. “Post-project approved” responsibilities include complete management of Engineering/Design, Permitting, Inspection, Construction, Splicing, Documentation, and Budget Analysis.
The Main Responsibilities
•Direct and lead team of individual contributors who manage the design, development and implementation of all Construction activities within a specific region.
•Manage and assure adherence to budgets, project schedules, work plans and performance requirements
•Establish, implement, and maintain administrative and technical procedures to ensure projects are completed in an efficient and cost effective manner within allocated budget and accounting guidelines
•Exercise financial controls within company financial systems, including review/approval of projects, purchase requisitions and oversight of approved contractors
•Acts in a multi-discipline project leadership role working towards the development of new solutions, processes, tools, & systems for customers
•Manage multiple large OSP infrastructure projects and initiatives that require cross-organizational coordination to achieve organizational goals
•Exercise considerable latitude in decision-making under limited direction towards providing unique solutions to diverse and complex engineering problems/projects that typically have many alternatives requiring customization
•Effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
•Facilitate, delegate and lead cross-functional teaming to drive transformational change across multiple disciplines and functional organizations to improve processes, workflows and streamlining of functions
•Motivate and cultivates employee development through empowerment, driving a “culture of learning”, and actively engaging in employee’s development opportunities
•Develop and communicate vision to drive improved employee engagement and organizational results
•Other duties as assigned
What We Look For in a Candidate
Required
•Bachelors degree plus at least eight (8) years or more of communications industry experience in networking area demonstrating leadership and advanced technical knowledge as the primary leader directing the work of other professionals or equivalent work experience or equivalent experience.
•Ability to travel as much as 20%-30%.
•Previous experience and knowledge in all aspects of Engineering, Equipment Installation, & OSP Construction, and contract policies and procedures, as well as, the Construction Certification Program requirements.
•Experienced in the bidding, negotiation and approval of engineering, installation and construction contracts with multiple internal and external customers.
Preferred
•Master’s Degree or MS in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience preferred.
•Knowledge of Lumen Proprietary Systems.
Compensation
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
Location Based Pay Ranges:
$129,639 - $172,852 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY.
$136,121 - $181,494 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI.
$142,603 - $190,137 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
