This role is hybrid with on-site expectations in Ann Arbor, MI 3 days per week. Domestic and international travel may be required. You will work during early mornings, nights, or weekends. This position is included in the bargaining unit represented by the University Staff United (USU), which represents bargaining unit members in all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment. What You'll Do

Purpose:

As the Assistant Director of Admissions you will manage events to attract and enhance the candidate pipeline with the goal of yielding prospective students into the Full-Time MBA program. You are an expert in events planning and coordination and outreach to diverse populations. You will contribute to strategic planning initiatives, and cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You are a strong public speaker, focused on collaboration and customer service. You will report to the Senior Associate Director of Admissions and Recruitment.

Responsibilities*

Admissions Recruitment and Outreach (30%)

  • Represent the school at domestic and international recruitment events (MBA fairs, tours, visits, yield events). You will deliver presentations for varied audiences of 5-300 attendees at these events.

  • Build relationships with prospective students and key partners to support diversity and applicant quality.

  • Guide applicants through the admissions process, addressing complex questions.

  • Lead outreach for assigned populations; serve as liaison for clubs and external partners.

  • Conduct one-on-one advising to support prospective student decision-making.

Admissions Evaluation and Selection (20%)

  • Review and evaluate applications, ensuring fairness and consistency in decisions and maintaining discretion with confidential information.

  • Manage the scholarship appeal process, including documentation and committee coordination. This will require advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis functions).

  • Organize feedback sessions related to appeals.

  • Handle student FERPA requests and appointments per policy.

Admissions Event Planning and Execution (30%)

  • Plan and manage in-person and virtual recruitment events, including logistics and volunteer coordination. This will require proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with databases, email platforms, and calendar management tools.

  • Execute signature events (e.g., Military Preview Weekend, Deloitte Day, International Go Blue Rendezvous).

  • Monitor event registration and drive additional promotion.

  • Conduct post-event surveys to assess effectiveness and inform future planning.

Strategic Planning and Operational Leadership (15%)

  • Contribute to strategic recruitment planning and process innovation.

  • Align outreach strategies with enrollment and yield goals.

  • Use admissions data to streamline scholarship appeal processes.

  • Research and implement technology to enhance event execution and service quality.

Administrative and Data Management (5%)

  • Track event and visit data in Salesforce to support accurate reporting.

  • You will update the events on our Admissions website using advanced HTML techniques, formatting digital communications and resolving technical issues.

  • Support special projects and maintain compliance with institutional policies.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of progressive work experience.

  • 1+ years of experience planning admissions events or similar mid-scale, logistics-heavy activities, including tracking and reconciling expenses or managing budgets.

  • Experience working as a member of a large team.

  • Familiarity with Zoom and Salesforce CRM (Blackthorn preferred).

Additional Information

Salary Information:

The posting range for this position is $52,300-$64,550. This role is non-exempt and is paid hourly. This posting range reflects multiple factors involved in determining compensation, such as skills, experience, training, certifications, and other organizational needs. At Ross, it is not common for new hires to be offered a salary at the upper end of the range. Compensation decisions are based on the details of each situation.
