Job Summary:
We are seeking a Principal Hardware Quality Engineer with hands-on hardware quality experience to become a key part of Operations Quality – Circuit Card Manufacturing Team. Here at Raytheon, our Operations Quality Team assures product and process quality with an emphasis on Product Compliance, Customer Satisfaction and Continuous Improvement.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Provide production floor support and resolution to address process and compliance issues.
Facilitate corrective actions, closed loop process controls and continuous improvement methods to improve product/process predictability and capability.
Integrate product and process verifications such as First Articles and audits throughout value stream processes to prevent quality escapes, optimize throughput and assure on-time delivery of products and services.
Assure clear identification, physical control, and respective disposition of nonconformities
Defect prevention through data analysis and effective execution of Root Cause Analysis and associated Corrective Action Implementation.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 8 years of experience in quality/manufacturing engineering OR Advanced degree and 5 years of experience in quality/manufacturing engineering
Prior experience with Quality systems, to include ISO 9001, AS9100 and AS9102
Previous experience managing cross functional process improvement teams with technical experience
Experience identifying root cause and initiate/implement short-term and long-term corrective actions
Experience in development/usage of Quality metrics that may be used to drive true root cause and long-term corrective action, and in the identification/institution of perceptive verifications
Experience interpreting schematics, work instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs), consumable materials control, process disciplines and tool control
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated knowledge of key process characteristics and ability to implement effective process control techniques.
Strong familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems
Six Sigma, ASQ Certifications
Proficient in the use of pareto analysis, cause/effect diagrams, process mapping
Able to facilitate cross-functional teams in systematic improvement activities (e.g. 6-sigma, lean manufacturing)
Existing US DoD Secret (or higher) clearance
Experience with Customer Oriented Results and Excellence (CORE) or another continuous improvement program; Utilizing tools such as 5S, Root Cause Analysis, Process Mapping/Analysis, Lean Six Sigma (6Sigma)
Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)/AS9145; Utilizing tools such as PPAP, Key Characteristics, DFMEA, PFMEA and/or Control Plans
Experience with SAP/PRISM or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Tool
Previous experience with circuit card assembly processes
Baseline factory metrics (Scrap, Rework, FPY, etc.), identify top drivers, forecast future demand for top drivers and identify areas of opportunity for improvement.
Engage MFG DPT teams to ensure alignment on top priorities (using baseline data and future forecast) to drive containment, Root Cause Analysis and associated Corrective Action Implementation.
Identify supplier escapes/issues and ensure proper containment and backflow to the Supplier Quality Management team.
Perform verification and validation of improvements to understand effectiveness.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
