Job Summary:

We are seeking a Principal Hardware Quality Engineer with hands-on hardware quality experience to become a key part of Operations Quality – Circuit Card Manufacturing Team. Here at Raytheon, our Operations Quality Team assures product and process quality with an emphasis on Product Compliance, Customer Satisfaction and Continuous Improvement.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Provide production floor support and resolution to address process and compliance issues.

  • Facilitate corrective actions, closed loop process controls and continuous improvement methods to improve product/process predictability and capability.

  • Integrate product and process verifications such as First Articles and audits throughout value stream processes to prevent quality escapes, optimize throughput and assure on-time delivery of products and services.

  • Assure clear identification, physical control, and respective disposition of nonconformities

  • Defect prevention through data analysis and effective execution of Root Cause Analysis and associated Corrective Action Implementation.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 8 years of experience in quality/manufacturing engineering OR Advanced degree and 5 years of experience in quality/manufacturing engineering

  • Prior experience with Quality systems, to include ISO 9001, AS9100 and AS9102

  • Previous experience managing cross functional process improvement teams with technical experience

  • Experience identifying root cause and initiate/implement short-term and long-term corrective actions

  • Experience in development/usage of Quality metrics that may be used to drive true root cause and long-term corrective action, and in the identification/institution of perceptive verifications

  • Experience interpreting schematics, work instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs), consumable materials control, process disciplines and tool control

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of key process characteristics and ability to implement effective process control techniques.

  • Strong familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems

  • Six Sigma, ASQ Certifications

  • Proficient in the use of pareto analysis, cause/effect diagrams, process mapping

  • Able to facilitate cross-functional teams in systematic improvement activities (e.g. 6-sigma, lean manufacturing)

  • Existing US DoD Secret (or higher) clearance

  • Experience with Customer Oriented Results and Excellence (CORE) or another continuous improvement program; Utilizing tools such as 5S, Root Cause Analysis, Process Mapping/Analysis, Lean Six Sigma (6Sigma)

  • Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)/AS9145; Utilizing tools such as PPAP, Key Characteristics, DFMEA, PFMEA and/or Control Plans

  • Experience with SAP/PRISM or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Tool

  • Previous experience with circuit card assembly processes

  • Baseline factory metrics (Scrap, Rework, FPY, etc.), identify top drivers, forecast future demand for top drivers and identify areas of opportunity for improvement.

  • Engage MFG DPT teams to ensure alignment on top priorities (using baseline data and future forecast) to drive containment, Root Cause Analysis and associated Corrective Action Implementation.

  • Identify supplier escapes/issues and ensure proper containment and backflow to the Supplier Quality Management team.

  • Perform verification and validation of improvements to understand effectiveness.

Clearance Information: This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
