JOB SUMMARY The Payroll Specialist processes and manages the company's multi-state payroll on time, accurately, and in accordance with government regulations. Responsible for the reconciliation of payroll cycles, related taxes, and reports. Responds to inquiries related to payroll from employees and managers. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent. 3+ years of work experience processing multi-state payroll. Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software. Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices. Proficient with MS Office Suite. Good knowledge of relevant payroll systems/software. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work well independently and in a team environment. Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Multi-state payroll experience for medium to large companies (500+ employees) CPP Experience using Sage 100 software. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees hourly rates, salaries, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, garnishments, and other information. Ensure that all payroll-related transactions are processed in compliance with established internal procedures and external policies/regulations. Use time-keeping and payroll software accurately and efficiently. Explain payroll cycles and processes to employees and managers. Collect and verify employee and timekeeping data: o Verify job cost coding/ST-OT hours specific to state and contract o Ensure accurate tax and benefits withholdings o Enter time in time-keeping system for job sites Audit payroll information for accuracy. Reconcile payroll deposits, tax withholdings, wage garnishments, and voluntary deductions. Update employee payroll information for new hires, promotions, terminations, etc. Maintain employee pay records and payroll transactions. Ensure compliance with company policies, relevant state regulations, tax and deduction laws. Calculate and processes Federal and State tax and social security withholdings, union dues, and other deductions, insurance, benefits, pension/retirement, 401(k) contributions and company match, etc. Process monthly, quarterly and year-end tax reports and W2's. Identify problems and gather necessary information and implement appropriate actions for resolution. []{style=""}
